I'm a tank and the leader of a small FC.Since I paid for my sub the game has become unplayable. If I try to log on before midnight EST my "Start" is grayed out, if after 100 tries I get past that I get a 90k error when logging into my character, another 100 tries and I get into he game and have 5 second lag. I think square is severely limiting bandwidth on some players to make it better for people who have not subbed yet in hopes they will make $. My ISP is not throttling me, my ports are all clear for this game, and there is 0 network issue on my side. Tanking is more responsibility than any other job so if I'm lagging I can't do it. Between midnight and 8am I have 0 lag in this game; that is the only time I can do content. This huge limiting factor is why I am way behind on my myth tomestones, and honestly don't even feel like playing anymore because of the deficit between me and my friends who are unaffected by these connectivity problems being unable to do the same content together

I made a topic in the bug forum and was told they are "aware" of the issue, but didn't offer any sort of information on what they are doing to fix it, a timeline, or anything at all really. I would like my days from when I subbed to be refunded to me until this issue is fixed, at the least.

Tanking in this game is great. It actually requires effort, and people can pull off of you if they're not careful about what they're attacking. It's a nice change from WoW where tanks have a ridiculous 600% threat mod on all of their abilities and threat becomes a complete non-issue.

The problem is that when a dps sees a mob they attack it, they dont let you get agro they dont wait a few seconds they just attack , bards are the worst with their AE spam all the time, i have gotten to where if i see a bard in the group i leave or when i make a group i dont include bards and not only that we have healers that want to be dps so they spam dmg spells and heal just enuff to keep you about half then go oom OR they spam medica and bitch when they get nailed.

    Circle of Scorn everything.

If 2 mobs, do a rotation of aggro combo on second mob, to land RoH debuff and hold its attention.
Repeat a combo on each mob till the first is dead. Flash is not needed.

If 3 mobs, split the aggro combo among all mobs. Do first two hits on the second mob, RoH on the third mob.
    Flash for good measure.
Do a full aggro combo on main mob.
By this point, the main mob should be dead or very close to it, and I can shift full attention to the second mob.

When doing 3 mobs this way, try to land RoH on the add that relies on physical attacks, though this really only matters in some pulls in AK for example, with the Hound Lights being magic-based.
In a perfect world, but what happens when you pull 4 to 5 mobs and you have a bard in group and they start burning AE attacks from the start and then when they get agro they proceed to kite around.... If groups gave you at least 6 seconds 9 at the most to get agro set it would be ok...

I don't understand how this is somehow a failure of the game's tanking mechanics. It certainly doesn't mean they should make holding AE threat easier to account for bad players.

If the DPS are screwing up, tell them and explain that tanks in this game are not the mob magnets they are in WoW. Mark targets with a giant 1-2-3 to make it idiotproof. If they continue to attack the wrong targets, just don't taunt and tell the healer to ignore them. If it's the healer, tell themr that using Medica II when 2/4 people are at 80% health is not a good use of their mana or enmity quota.

My point is that this is a player problem, not a game design one. Making one of the roles in the game easier to play (and less fun for groups who actually know what they're doing) just because people in the dungeon finder are awful is not the answer.

I understand many here enjoy tanking and most saying so are already 50.

    But

If there are no problems as you all say and its so great a class/job to play, why are there so few of them in game, why does no one want to play the class if its so awesome and great? I have to say its not great by just looking at the amount of them playing..

The one role that holds up Duty finder is Tanks, there are very little, even as a conjurer/whm i can wait in DF for hours before a tank pops.

    Something is wrong.

I main a Warrior, and I can say that one reason so few want to play tanks is because they are afraid of the responsibility (EDIT: and most likely the pure venemous reactions they can get from messing up). If a dps messes up, its no problem, can be fixed right away. A tank messes up, chaos ensues. Same with healers, only healers aren't expected to know where to go, what mobs to pull and when, etc etc.

Then as you say this is the issue, things need to change as we are having a serious shortage of them at lower levels.

The mechanics just aren't working at least at lower areas, Tanks usually leave after one or two wipes.

We had 10 wipes in one dungeon due to everybody messing up (mostly DPS) even the tank did once mess up.. after the tank left we were screwed but when i went to the mender after the run it cost me a measly 300 gil so what exactly are people so upset about with a wipe now and then, its not the gil repairs.. no one is perfect.

Never in all my years in MMO's have i met so many quitters/haters in dungeons and most of them are tanks sorry to say, and no i never touched WoW thank god.

I am up to Stone Vigil and already know that chaos is my enemy. Losing control of a situation is my real adversary in a dungeon. Good DPS players understand this. Every tank has their preferred method for engaging enemies, some do it slower than others, especially if they are new to tanking. Unfortunately, that slower approach goes against the "GO, GO, GO" mentality of a lot of late game DPS players and causes issues that usually explode into flames if the tank slips up and allows chaos to take over.
