Locked servers....WHY?

Would you for the love of god stop locking servers. The queues are not long so why lock servers???
I have a friend who wanted to join me on PhoenixEU but noooo its locked so now I will have to start over on a new server to play with him.
Guess SE aint interessted in new customers since now my friend got scared away and Im thinking about quitting myself over this.
I really thought you fixed all of this shit?

The servers open and close daily based on the population of the server.

In fact, they change almost hourly, but you only get an update on their status once a day.

But why have this? Phoenix have a queue true but its max 5mins and thats even stretching it a bit....

I started out having to play on an NA server because none of the EU servers were available for character creation. Then they seemingly fix things and I pick an EU server to start over on and now thats locked

I don't know if you know, but the EU and NA servers are located in the same physical place (Canada). They only call them EU/NA to try and encourage specific regions, but unless you have friends on an EU server, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm in the UK, but playing on an NA designated server with a lot of friends also from the UK and it hasn't caused us any problems.
