Bit surprised that the answer most people say is do a discipline of land job.

While i do agree people from dol or crafters should rule the market, dow should be able to get ways to pay for teleport and repairs
Some people play mmorpg for fighting aspect and should be able to farm monsters to make a bit of money without dol
    Just my 2cents

You CAN do that. Minus the teleports, those are silly expensive. You just won't get rich quick if you refuse to dabble in the crafts.

Run battle levequests, guildhests as a tank (queues quickly, pays better than you think on re-runs), zerging FATEs. It doesn't look like a lot of gil coming up, but it sums up. If you're not using your top gear and spending tons of gil on repairs—profit.

Also, if you're not completely anti-social, find friends who will make you basic gear for free, so you can keep exchanging equipment, spiritbond/convert it, and sell Materia on a side; this way you don't even have to pay for repairs. You can arrange to split the profits with the people providing your gear.

And none of this is counting mats that drop from mobs you kill, you can sell those as well.
