Actually, if you had ever played WoW you'd know that the combat is more or less the same thing as what we have here. Only the rotations are more complex and you have less time to react.
Slowing down the combat doesn't add strategy, it just makes the game easier.
100% correct. Wow pretty much uses the same hotkey battle system but with a 1.5 gcd. The rotations are also similar or more complex than what we have here and with more utility/cc/situational abilities. 2.5 sec gcd just makes the game easier and also possible for console users.
BTW in not advocating a change of gcd but implying that a longer gcd makes combat deeper and more strategic is flat out wrong.

WoW rotations are/were(with WoD combat changes coming in later today) far from complex. If anything, Dragoon in this game have a much more convoluted rotations than melees in that game.100% correct. On topic, with how things are currently balanced, a shorter GCD would hurt certain classes with their resources (almost anyone that's not a Black Mage in AoE for example or summoners in single target would go out of mana much faster). If a faster GCD is to happen, the balance for resource generation would have to be looked at.
