Have a close look at all the replies right after what the OP said. not one mention of the actual topic. Hence why white knight had to be said.
Delusional ? A bit extreme, settle down. So many times i've had to use instant cast abilities and they aren't, Or trying to get off an instant cast heal which is so slow and sluggish. It's very frustrating at how unresponsive it is.

Well, I'm just saying this: it's an interesting opinion to claim that one of the reasons that FFXIVARR doesn't have as many subscribers as WoW is because it doesn't have fast, responsive combat. It's probably wrong though, as there are a number of glaring, actual issues that are detrimental to taking in new players and retention thereof as subscribers.

I get your point, but for instance, I enjoy the combat systems in Dark Souls or Mount and Blade, both of which I've seen some people complain are slow and sluggish and unresponsive, when I disagree with that and the pace of combat in those games are actually a forte—and it being interesting how much they make you rely on solid strategy and timing due to the slow pace they've been designed around, and punishing in difficulty to people who rely on getting through more action-oriented games with button mashing. That said, FFXIVARR was designed in a specific way, never projected to have WoW-like numbers of subscribers, and in terms of certain design choices, likely envisioned as a niche game, combat system being one of them.

Honestly with the way the game is not that some of the content isn't fun but mostly because of the constant throttling and 90k errors might actually go back to wow tell se gets the kinks worked out.

Theres just to many bugs between lack of proper monster to person ratio as far as priority between what gets rendered and what doesn't.. TO extreme fps drops (lucky i haven't been plagued by that to much). To straight up bugs that been around sense beta 4... Lacking account management page trying to get ahold of a gm or customer support is pita at best.

I love this game and plan to continue playing it for the foreseeable future. Usually I'd be one of the first to facepalm at some of the ridiculous complaints that are made about it.

However, to be quite frank, if you think that the reponsiveness of the combat system is working as it should be then you're living in cloud-cuckoo land.

I know it's terribly bad form to say anything positive about WOW in this forum but lets face it, whatever negative aspects it might have, it's combat and movement timing system is absolutely spot on. In fact in every other MMO I've played in the last 10 years the combat and movement responsiveness has been better than it is in RR.

Yes, there are other threads about this, and the OP probably did himself in a bit by mentioning the taboo 'other game' but let's face it, his point is quite true. It may not affect everybody all the time, but if you're saying it's not an issue or is by design, then you're simply delusional.

And yet ... No where does it say it will take effect Instantly.

Seems you all are getting confused with what an 'Instant Cast' is.
I play in Australia, on a North American server and my abilities all fire off the very instant i push my button. However, the Damage or desired effect, such as a silence or stun, doesn't happen until the animation sequence says so.

Certainly never made the game feel sluggish for me. I know how long it takes for my stun to take effect after Casting it or the milliseconds it requires for the damage to occur. And i factor this into everything i do. Because it makes no sense for the damage to happen before my axe actually hits my target, or before my Monk actually punches it.

He does make very valid points... Even went as far as to go play pwi never-winter Rift which is based on gamebro which is a horrible engine compared to FF's... And when you actually click a instant ability guess what cough its instant...

There is no delay. The 'delay' that many are thinking they are having is simply due to the animation of the current skill needing to finish first. If you are just auto-attacking and press the 'instant' ability key, I can assure you that it will fire instantly, or as close to instant as your connection will let you.

For anyone wanting to tell me that stun effects are not instant, I know they are not, that too is due to the animation needing to be played first. It's like expecting water to come out of a tap before you turn the handle. You just have to learn how to use these abilities the way the game works and not the way other games implement them.

Then the tooltip needs updated to actually factor in animation speeds.
