I will willingly go into a dungeon and learn the hard way, but hell will freeze over before I study walkthroughs and videos to be allowed to participate. What did you people do before you Youtube? Stop riding on other people's coattails and play the damn game

A new player watching videos to gain some familiarity with a run (given the expectations of tanks) is not riding coat tails. It's me trying to be as prepared as I can be. By no means do I think it is mandatory. I do it so I dont have to listen to others rage at me for avoidable mistakes.

Stop telling other people how to play the damn game >: D

Some people like to do research and get a 100% completion on their first try, if that's how they have the most fun it's not your business. That being said I agree with you that I find it more fun to just try things instead of researching them : D

As a tank, I like knowing what I'm doing prior to starting a new instance. It takes all of three minutes to skim through a write up, and the time I save on the back end typically makes the investment well worth it.

While I don't consider leading or studying the dungeon a tank-exclusive activity, I do consider it my job to make sure my inexperience isn't someone else's problem.

The problem is that the learning curve in this game quickly becomes steep in a few places. You go from places where the biggest mechanics are "don't stand in red" to places like Qarn where the mechanics are still pretty straightforward but will give you a bad time if you don't identify and deal with them promptly.

Either way, for all the posturing done on both sides in this discussion, it all boils down to common courtesy. Tanks shouldn't act like we're Nald'thal's gift to the group, nor should the group expect a randomly assigned tank to spoonfeed them gear and content.
