I played 1.0 that had the boat ride, sometimes i miss it, sometimes i just want to get there. Being able to fish off it was really the best part of it. I do sometimes wish it was there, but maybe as an option not a forced.

We had a nice big thread in beta about this and even got a response.
I believe it was something along the lines of "we may consider this at a later time, but rendering and designing the environment would take a lot of time, effort, and manpower that we aren't willing or able to put into it yet. We may or may not get around to it within the next year."
Edit: And yes, I'd love for them to return as optional. Sometimes I'd like to take it, sometimes I'd like to teleport.

I would like to see the option if I don't want to teleport or take an airship that I can walk there...... oh wait its already in there for all you that don't like it don't use it. What your really saying is not only do you not want to use it you want me to not use it.
Don't teleport? That is an option too you know. We get mounts that are rather fun to ride. I just finished exploring all my over world maps and there are some really neat places to see out there. Cant wait till the beastman dailies start taking us into their areas to gain their trust. Oh and making our FC airships will be fun too.
thank god because that boat ride and that airship ride SUCKED!
how did I stand it while playing FFXI I don't know but yeah those things sucked about that game. Good for you that you are still in school and have that amount of time, but the world moved on and it is 1000x better
You're an idiot for trying to police how other people play the game. Play how you want, and I'll play how I want.Well I plan on playing the game for more than a few months, then deactivating my account to post on the forums. You need a single player game, because obviously you just want to be in your own personal bubble, and speed through every minute of the game at top speed. Feel like this is an american issue, instant gratification. You can't handle working for anything.
All arguing about ffxi vs. ffxiv stuff aside, I would love it if they left the current system in place for teleporting and they added in airship rides/boat rides similar to those in xi (as long as they could come up with a decent reason). I like the ease of the system now, but I'd bet people would take boats/airships if we'd have events on them similar to xi of if we could craft/gather some way or another on them.
i miss fishing off the boat rides.
i hope they add it back, and put some legendary fish out there only caught while boating
Yes I want to force you to travel, so that perhaps the Fantasy MMO focused on role-playing would actually feel like such. I know you guys are more than likely FF13 kids, but at one point Final Fantasy was the type of game you played for depth and attachment. Not a pretty version of wow, with less depth. Ff11 was a good representation of that. A bit to grindy yes, but social interaction, achievment, awe, mystery that game actually had some. Simple things like waiting 5 mins to ride a boat, or having to actually go to a instance to enter it. Make the game a game, not a spamy grind-fest,
Know why Fates are spammed so easily because of teleporting. Travel time in a world this small is important, if it was on scale with say WoW then yes, teleporting and gryphons are needed. FF has no content, and simple time sinks and fluff is needed. Forced. not optional Forced.
Most of you replying will quit in a few weeks anyways due to ADHD or whatever your mom blames it on.
I agree with this, 5-10 minute boat/airship rides would be awesome to have. Although, I think it should be optional. I hate the fact Teleporting costs Gil, makes it so you basically have unlimited teleports. I wish we only got 10-15 teleports per day and every 2 hours one would be restored. That'll force more emphasis on exploring.
But alas, those are just my wishes and two cents.
