This would be a good comparison except... That quest didn't limit the amount of times you could turn in fish/day, pulling up one fish is faster than doing a GH, and there was actually something valuable at the end of the tunnel.

Me thinks ye all should compare the list to this.

Achieves are after all tied to these .
Are you sure about this? I'm just checking the lodestone, but the big achievements (the 5000 ones) aren't class specific, but there is one for each type of class (battle, crafter and gatherer), which admittedly is still a lot and would take 7 years to complete.
Edit: Actually, I didn't notice that there are 3 10000 ones to obtain, lol.

I had to think about this when I learned that the level 50 crafting class quests gave you a tool that was equivalent to the Tools of the Luminary for the achievements.
Here is what I came up with:
Achievements are not meant to be worked for and gained as easily as most people gain Darklight Gear. The achievements are there to show you exactly how far you've gone and how much you've done with your time in Eorzea. So, yeah, I can level up my crafting class and get a really good tool and be upset that it's the same stats as Luminary. OR I could get that tool, use it to craft stuff for everyone I know/meet/run across in game, and then one day a message pops up telling me that I've earned the achievement for the Luminary tool. Now THAT feels like an achievement. I worked at leveling the craft, but not only that, I continued to craft things, enough crafting that I got my Luminary.
Same with everything else. You go about your daily business, running dungeons, doing leves of all kinds, hopefully helping out others along the way, and BAM you get the message that you earned an achievement.
Really makes you feel the value of those words 'earned' and 'achievement.'

Even though he was obviously being sarcastic, you are still wrong. If something being time consuming makes it difficult for "you" to do, then it is in fact difficult to do.
That achievement would in fact be insanely difficult for anyone... ever to get, considering this game a WoW-easy and will die within a few years like rift and every other WoW-clone.
That achievement is nothing. If you try to do all of the leve achievements (10k battle, 10k trade, 10k gathering and 5k GC), it will take you somewhere in the neighborhood of 14.5 years to complete them all.

You are confused. There is no such thing as "Elite Provisioning Missions". There is "Expert Delivery", which requires pink or better gear and does indeed have no set limit imposed on it, but as it is neither Provisioning nor Supply, it doesn't count towards either of those achievements.

These achievements are set aside to be for a handful of people, if anyone. They aren't intended to be completed by most players. This game is already a cake walk. Can we at least keep this? Jesus..
There's no ONE ultimate usage of what it is for something to be difficult. Note, I did not say "definition". Time can be difficult, by result of third variables, be it psychological (boredom), financial (paying for sub for X amount of time, ignoring anything that might happen), etc. If anyone actually feels that saying it's "difficult" to keep doing something for long periods of time is wrong (especially if we're talking years here), they're probably not someone you'd want to take seriously on any opinionated account.
