Yeah I don't know why they did away with the Primal tokens from the original system.
@kormethar: No, it is bad luck. Probability doesn't work by saying that if you're looking at an event that occurs 5% of the time, it will happen after 20 events - that's only true on average as you try a lot of times (50 is a lot for one person to do, but not really much at all in the grand scheme of things). Yes, it's very unlucky for someone to do 50 runs without seeing a drop. The chance for that is going to be pretty small (assuming there's a 1/9 chance for your weapon to drop, theres a 0.28% chance you won't see it after 50 runs), but it's actually a large probability when you consider that there are thousands of people trying to get their Ifrit weapons. On average, according to that 0.28% chance, roughly one in every 360 of them is going to be in a similar situation. So yeah, unlucky.
I'm not saying the system's a good one at all as situations like yours are inevitable under a random drop system, but that's how it works.
i enjoy these fights however i agree there needs to be something else in place weather its a token or increase the drop rate or one per classs something, please SE.
I don't like the idea of tokens to trade for a weapon. But this is one case that would absolutely infuriate me.
It'd be cool if they had tokens that would increase your roll based on the number of times you'd been there on a given job. That way 1st timers couldn't steal from people like yourself.
I was on the opposite end of this, I got my staff on 2nd try, and the other whm said it was his 20th try and I outrolled him. I felt bad, but I'm not going to pass on an item thats a huge upgrade after I put in effort also, you know?

I had a similar problem with guarda beat her 25 times and 9 times ifirt before, the funny thing is right after i posted on this forum, i went to help friends out with ifrit and i got my smn book drop XD. Then i got a bow and a schl book drop in a role ( since it is a pre made party they all left for me to have the items).
I just got my relics today, my suggestion get full dark light it will make up for the GC weapon you have and just go for titan hm. Know your patterns for the phrase 5 and forget about ifirt :O go for relic <3. I will never farm weapons like that again, lesson learned. The item you farm for will never drop XD.
You have a 1/9 chance of dropping your weapon.
If we go by what the OP, and many others have claimed, (8/9)^54 chance of never seeing your weapon drop.
Which is:
0.0017, or 0.17% chance.
DO you know how COMMON this is? that 17 in 10000 people will never see their weapon in 50+ runs, not to mention win it. Okay? Chill out, this is MATH. There are at least 10000 people running Ifrit I'm sure.
So you and the 17 unlucky souls here, well, I'm really sorry. I've only personally done Ifrit around 10 times, haven't seen my weapon drop any of those times, but meh. Its okay. Its not the end of the world. Breathe in, and just move on with your life.
This is RNG. It sucks, but we love and we hate it at the same time. This is how every MMO works.
I have gone 2 entire tiers in WoW, almost 200 boss kills, without ever seeing a shield drop. You can view my armory, I'm using a healing shield to tank >.<
Such is MMOs.
I can repeat once more- drop rate is 100%. Each kill we can see drop. But randomizer itself is not random enough. Developers need to fix it, so it will be more fair and random spread of drop
I tried Ifrit HM , 15 times now.. and 15 times with Random Duty Finder peeps.
The math doesn't equal out to the success / fail rate . If you never see a coffer how the hell do you pop a coffer.
I think I Killed that damn Primal 2 times. out of 15 Mostly due to people Leaving / Quitting.
I am quite sick of it already. If there is no way to move forward with game content until weapon drops ... then why should I pay SE 15.00 a month.
This needs fixed. Offer a consolation prize = tokens to be able to buy your weapon from NPC after 50 runs win or fail.

That's not random - it's called random for a reason.
Anyway, here's a chart I came across that shows the expected amount of runs for you to have a 50%+ chance of getting your weapon:
Oh, and for people that are saying they can't progress until they've for an Ifrit weapon, that simply isn't true. If you buy a HQ version of your relic base weapon from the marketboard then you're only missing out on 1 damage and a few stat points. Alternatively, running Wanderer's Palace will get you a weapon just as good as the HQ relic base.
