I will yield to expertise, but as an example, the Panasonic 60" plasma has DVI-D which is what you want (dual link), given the tv itself only has 1080p resolution but you would use this anyday over HDMI unless you want the sound as well.

Given if we are talking about connecting ps3 then go ahead use HDMI since it wont really matter, i connect my PC and PS3 to my plasma
