Aesthetic customization wise, this is definitely one of the most limited games I've played in recent history. The inability to even dye dropped armor, and the lack of variety in end game armor, pretty much has everyone looking identical at end game. The limitations to the dye system pretty much guarantee that look diversity will be non-existent for the next few patches. Combine that with the lack of character creation customization options, and we all basically become duplicates of each other. :-/

This game has such gorgeous graphics, but when it comes to aesthetic design decisions, armor design and character customization... It's like they suddenly quit caring and walked away before finishing the job.

yeah, grind grind grind to attach materia. Or right click on a crafter, say meld this, click OK, done. So hard.

I really don't care how other players' characters look. If you can quickly pick out who the healers or tanks not wearing iconic gear in the sea of players in a fate like Svara or Odin outside of your group all the more power to you. Right now it's not that important, later on it could be very important. My point was the iconic gear like Artifact is not customizable to keep it easily identifiable in those said seas of players. In a big crazy fate, or large scale PvP even, it helps for your allies outside of your party to be able to quickly tell who is what job. Weapon only works currently due to all but 1 class having 1 job. And I do get that wearing WHM af in PvP would essentially be wearing a bullseye for the other team as well.

There is level 50 gear you can add materia too and dye as well.

    Oh wait, it sucks.

The dye system really should be expanded, and the materia system is fine, but there needs to be more (crafted)gear that supports it.

Materia is for CRAFTED gear, the problem is ilvl crafted gear is too grindy and expensive compared to token gear to be worth making, even though most is BIS for a lot of classes.

I should know better, being familiar with tvtropes...

But I still lost myself for an hour and a half with that link...

Should be able to dye any gear imo... Otherwise why have the system, even AF. Picking out people in a fate based on their Iconic Gear... That's what fate parties are for and there is this thing called a Hud. Most the problems with anything like that in the field is lack of organization of the players, not who is pink and who is blue. Secondly you can't really even make that argument with all the lalafels running around, just try clicking on a lalafel in the field under behemoth, that's not gonna happen unless they are in your group.

The model is still iconic, regardless of what color it is.

-2 Piece tank gear needs to disappear (we want a piece for each slot like everyone else)
-Dye should be available on all the gear
-Gear in dungeons should have materia sockets (or we should be able to have a crafter socket a materia socket into our gear, e.g. say it is capable of having two sockets but has none, we go request a crafter to install the sockets, then request a melder to meld materia to them).

Secondly, the /visor command should work on all helmets, two piece or not. But really the two piece crap just needs to be gone, redo the tank darklight to be 5 pieces, it sucks the way it is. Not only does it look like crap, but we need more philo than everyone else to gear out which means you have DPS in 2+ pieces of Major Darklight gear (Chest/Legs) before the tank has any, Undergeared Tank = Bad. Let me reexplain that. The philo balances out because it two pieces in one, but as such it costs twice as much. So what that means is a DPS or Healer get's their chest, meanwhile we have to wait for our chest but when we do it's chest and helm. This has DPS/Heals 1 step ahead of the tank, then the tank catches up, then they are 1 step ahead again, then the tank catches up. It's just a bad design imo.

Healers and casters also have the same problem. Darklight Cowls take up two slots: head and body. The only jobs that don't have this issue are BRD, MNK, and DRG.

I agree with you, but you could at least double check to make sure what you're saying is accurate. :/
