Currently mid combat Raise has a seriously negative side effect of not preventing spells from targeting you during your ''resurrection'' animation. Effectively meaning that the instant you gain control, your dead.

This needs fixing.

Let me explain further.

Upon accepting a Raise, it takes a few second for your animation to complete. In that time, you may and quite often are targeted by spells that require a target and create the red damage zone. In this time, you are unable to do anything, much less perform any and all actions and no buffs or healing may be done to you. The moment you gain control, is the EXACT same time the red zone damage hits. Effectively killing you the instant you are given control of your character.

AoE still hits you, and you cant be targetted. This causes a small bug thats been reported (by me at least) that can be used to get around the healing, and give a small bonus by removing Weakness (hint hint)

Yeah, you can in fact be targeted. Not by direct spells such as Stone etc - but those that create the red aoe zones. Those that are placed onto a player are the ones that STILL can target a player in the resurrection animation.

The person being raised will appear where the healer is. So try to be in a safe spot when you cast it. I understand sometimes it's hard to find a safe spot that is within casting range. This is something SE should address. Mobs have invulnerability for a moment when breaking off from combat. PCs should get the same when being raised.

The caster is fully capable of moving - the target CANNOT.

Of course, but you still have to be within range of the dead character, and cannot cast while moving. Raise has a long casting time.

Let me explain even further so those in this thread may understand the facts.

Lets say I am at point A. The recipient of my Raise spell is at point B. I cast and complete my Raise of a defeated player at point B. That player is moved to my location - point A and begins the resurrection animation. I move to point C to get closer to the tank. During the resurrection animation for the now resurrected player, the boss places a TARGETED red aoe damage zone ON THE PLAYER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESURRECTION ANIMATION. Being unable to move out of the red zone, the moment the player gains control of his character, the red zone detonates, instantly killing the already severely wounded player.

Just gain the quickcast skill from Thuramage and it will cast instantly.

Yeah that may or may not happen, but the healer has done everything he or she can do. That's why I favor temporary invulnerability during the raising process, and for a moment after.
