Dont expect PvP content anytime soon nor something deeply thought. It most likely be something random to kick other people behind, just like Brenner or the fight between nations in Final Fantasy XI. Square specialize in deep story PvE content not on PvP.

I think this should be posted in any topic where people are trying to pass off as fact that "the majority of players are at endgame level!!!11!1!" Cold, hard numbers tends to shut people up really quick. Or at least, you would hope.

Anyway, as far as when subscription time kicks in, I expect a bit of a population drop myself. However, if there's one thing that Final Fantasy XI taught me, it's to never underestimate the loyalty of a true FF fan. Heck, how do you think FFXI is still kicking after all of these years? This game is going to be around for a very long time.

Except those are not players, those are classes..... At least read the graph before diving off on a tangent.

Wait, what? If you haven't beaten Titan by the time subs come, you won't resub? Where's the logic in that? Though I have to say, we're better off without anyone that whines to make the game easier, so good riddance I suppose.

I already put down for three months, so I might as well keep going.

But this game really does have some major issues that could very well be the beginning of the end. Don't get me wrong: the story and world are fantastic, and the emphasis on plot is a huge plus.

Unfortunately, that's also a major issue: there's is a linear plot and a final boss. Dragon Quest X hemorrhages subscribers every day because of this, and people just clear the game and say "welp, I'm done". And like Dragon Quest X, FFXIV has very little in the ways of endgame right now with very little on the horizon that we know of. Sure, we'll get Crystal Tower and one or two new primal fights, but that's all we're going to be grinding until the next expansion... a year from now.

The endgame issues all could have been avoided, and there's one big example I can think of. All of those outdoor Level 45+ beastmen fortresses could've been amazing outdoor endgame content. They could have required groups and had great loot and items to find. Instead, they're just vapid husks that you waltz your way through once to attune yourself for a Hardmode primal or snipe something for your hunting log. Imagine what kinds of organization we could've had to tackle them. Instead, you just storm through them because nothing will aggro or even give you the time of day. They got these places right in 1.0. Now they're just a joke...

FFXIV is a game that works on drawing people in, but does nothing to retain them.

Like the majority of other big mmo's that have come out the past few years I think the numbers will drop drastically once everybody has gone through their 30-37 days (or whatever it ended up being). There will be population issues on a large number of servers and some zones will seem deserted for a time. All people have to do is look at something like swtor that had huge sales at launch and good numbers, but after the first few months it was bleeding a lot of players as well. Hopefully with FFXIV they've budgeted well enough that the game can still receive enough updates even with a smaller player base.

Personally I'm not resubbing after my initial time is up but I will come back at some point. The game is a lot of fun but can also be disappointing because there is a ton of potential here to make it the best mmo around.

PvP will be not good in this game, you don`t need to be excited.

Firstly nobody really knows what pvp is going to be like so you cant really assume it will be bad because pvp in FFXI was non-existant.

there need to be endgame content at release that keep players addicted for weeks or months, not only one damn 8 man raid (with a pathetic 1 week lock) and 1 level 50 dungeon.

No dev team is going to be able to have on release months worth of endgame content it simply isnt possible and no game has managed it so far, your dreaming to even expect it. Theres also two lvl50 dungeons and raid locking is pretty standard with games that take an instanced raiding approach.

Theres also two new dungeons, hard mode dungeon, moogle king fight, extreme primal fights and crystal tower coming in 2.1

End game is not the be all and end all. Although I will agree for me personally its a large deciding factor.

SE can`t expect everyone to be casual who needs 5 weeks to 50 and another 10 weeks to see endgame content. There are always people that are rushing and seeking variety in endgame, variety which does not exist here currently.

The casuals you are referring to make up the VAST majority of the playerbase, its this way in every game.

Chances are half of the servers will become ghost towns. By the way se is ripping us off. (300cap a week just so we subscribe longer for af2 gear) pretty obvious it is a cheap trick to suck our money. If they want our money they should atleast provide us with a decent service not some obvious cheap trick.

The character creations on other servers is still close and the instance have very long queue times even with party. These 2 things is a big no for a pay 2 play game. When people are playing the game you should never restrict them for something they want to do in game.

Sadly, se doesnt listen to their customer and keeps on ignoring these facts.

I just am having a hard time with people criticizing me for stuff. Tonight i did Hard mode ifrit. I was told to only stun eruption and thats it. So i do just that but once or twice i get resisted and they go crazy on me! I cannot control if i get resisted or not. I mean do these people just love to insult you or is it just the way the community on this game really is? Im almost to a point where its not even fun to play anymore because of that.
