but seriously. ffx-2 was incredibly successful and it was the definition of a horrible game. But it had a hot girl with a large chest and lots of cute costumes that a lot of girls found fashionable. Making it a huge success. Learning from history is good :]

    Hmmmm...

Final Fantasy X - sold 6.32 million units world wide

Final Fantasy X-2 - sold approximately 4 million units world wide

I would not call that incredibly successful, but i get your point.

P.S. sales fluctuated till end of production but i am 99% sure that those numbers are near end of the line production.

    What? Are you a stockholder?

I'd be happy only if the game was actually worth playing.

While it is important, i believe SE and its user base have overlooked the most important aspects of a successful MMO. And with that being said, here are my very professional and well-thought out ideas:

    1. Release miniskirts, bikini tops and bottoms, corsets, pretty dresses, scene hair, and whips for female classes.

why?: Revealing clothing will work great in advertisements to attract the average male gamer. Further, school girl outfits and cos play special event costumes will appeal to many people who like anime.
On the other hand, girls will have the opportunity to dress up and make their girl characters pretty. What girl wouldn't want to beat up a squirrel in a princess dress or attractive corset? If the accessories in the game are made to look prettier, girls can accessorize as well (hairbows, those cute elastic shape bracelets, cute earrings, etc)

    2. put in a love story!!! Make it epic and corny but cute. This will attract hundreds of teen girls. Make sure the guy is really hot. If the dev team is scared that they can't pull this off, using a vampire that looks 17 but is really 100, and a werewolf , is always a safe move.

why?: Girls love cute love stories. Don't believe me? Go to twilight movie premier. Some guys love it too. But point being is if you stick a long vampire quest line into the story a lot of girls will play just to finish it.

The last thing I want is a world where I can't talk sh*t about Justin Bieber because of some teen girls.

    3. Allow in-game marriage.

Why?: this will increase in-game relationships and in-game drama. And drama and relationships gets people coming back because they want to be a part of it.

    4. more cute mobs and pets and stuff!!

Why?: Who doesn't like cute things. Fluffy moogles should be active in cities. You should be able to get cute pets and have cuddle motions. like the more cute stuff the better.

So if SE wants FFXIV to be successful, i think these are the best ways to do it.
Imagine a FFXIV banner with a cute mithra with a whip and in a bikini fighting a dragon.... who wouldn't want to try that?
Or a princess elvaan falling for a vampire hume. scandalous!

Seriously though, i bet you if they implemented these things the game would probably take off.... I'm not sure if that's good or really sad.
    Heya!

Aside the red paragraph, I find this a little childish. I mean, ok, everybody likes cute monsters, pets, "pretty dresses" and whatever, but Hey! This is F*CKING FINAL FANTASY XIV! Not every monster has to be cute, and what we have in the bestiary is enough cuteness. Also we already have pretty dresses for girls: skirts, coatee suit, subligars, kecks and tighs; and I believe they want to release more of them.

For the In-game Marriage... man, I'm not sure about this. I mean, most of the people will marry just for the benefits, and leave drama and relationships away, but I'd be surprised if they implement a Marriage system where you Have to be trustworthy to your other half, by sending gifts, engaging in battle together and save both of your arses.

Anyway, I think this is not an MMO where subliminal messages, sexy women, big weapons and tough guys have to be on the adv banners.
This Is F*cking FINAL FANTASY. You have to give the impression of Adventure, Pride, Joy, Sorrow,... things like that if you're gonna do some advertisement.

Its not sexist. sex sells. romance sells to teen girls. etc. And -A LOT- of teen girls have PS3s. Look how popular Ragnorok Online is. If SE could tap into that market demographic the PS3 launch could be a huge rebound and hit. This version of the game obviously didn't appeal to that many people.
Actually most DoA vollyball games had low ratings. Due to the "creepy" factor to it. And realty is most teen girls have no self respect.(see teen mom, degrassi, mean girls) The new generation on teens have epidemic numbers of pregneacies. Most children as young as 9 ware skimpy outfits now. I see it all the time were I work. I'm also talking about grown up women not teenagers, who do know what sexist is. DoA ebv was a sexist game.

ffxi had weddings... You just got a ring with the persons name on it. But no drama tied to it. And i'm guessing Az is a teenage boy, guessing around 13 possible 16. (based on the ton of the post and suggestions)
My question is what is with you and teen girls? Most mmo gamers are between the edge of 18-35. But can be as old as 90, or as young as 7. But majority are 18-35. Most adult woman do have self respect, and do not enjoy the barbie factor. I played ff10-2 not for the as you nice ly put it.... "girls with big boobs you can play dress up with" But because it had a decent story imo, and great music. I liked the characters in it paine being my fave. (i like her kiss inspired goth outfit)

Most of you suggestions and complaints have been pretty childish kinda sounding like sexist angry teen who assumes he knowes everything about live. And assumes the world revolves around certain things.

    Yes this is final fantasy.
    and it has essentially failed.
Relaunches are tough. the main market for the game has already been epically dissapointed, and now people who don't normally play PS3 are less likely to play an MMO on it due to PS3's fail security.

Tons of online games and K-MMOs have girls with skimpy or cute outfits and lots of cute things because that is what sells.

I admit it may not be "final-fantasy-ish" but its worked for other games and could work for this.

Further, its not sexist in any way at all. its not demeaning woman or saying woman are sex-objects compared to men. Its just meeting a demand that lots of guys have, and that demand is lookin at pretty virtual girls. Im sure a lot of girls would enjoy it too. And they should make some hot tidus-looking male characters to balance it out.

All im saying is in games like Domo, perfect world, etc, (pay to play games) people pay $100's to buy skimpy or cute outfits. So its obviously something people -really- want, and would be a great incentive for people to play this game.

This guy reminds me of someone.. Just can't remember who.

In-game marriage seems nice. But would Same sex couples be allowed to? Or would they be discriminated against online too?

And making girls all cutesy? :S How about the ability to make ANY character feminine/Masculine regardless of gender?

BUUT... the more I read this... the more I can't take you serious..

    Especially No. 2

Every gamer I know of is sick if the cliche 'Cool guy' saving some hopeless chick.
