Nah, gathering should be slow, you work for yor resources to craft, it's the best way to make money in the game, don't make this another ADD-ridden 24 hours to 50 fest.

For me its pretty fast, I got my FSH from lv.1-50 in only 5 days, and right now im lv.ling BTN (at a much much slower pace) for the past 3 days and im lv.38 atm. And I think, scratch that I am all but certain I am one of if not the slowest lv.ler of Gathering classes, as I dont play that much.
If anything we seem to be getting xp. to fast.

Does a level 50 adventurer spend most of their time doing end-game content?
Does a level 50 gatherer spend most of their time gathering from end-game nodes?
As an adventurer rises in levels, earlier content fades out.
As a gatherer rises in levels, earlier nodes can be just as important depending on the market.
Increasing gathering XP decreases the time it takes for new options to open up.
Increasing adventuring XP reduces the time spent on content.
Understand the difference?
Didn't do it in 24hours or less? MAN WHY IS IT SO SLOW!?
Why? What would it actually matter if you could you level the gathering classes faster? If your end goal is to get a gathering class to cap, and not to gather materials, I have no idea why you are leveling one in the first place.

it needs to stay how it is, economy is fucked as it is with mats, would be fooked even harder if people didn't have to go through the grind.
Depends on where you look. For example, I recently went through the walnut phase on BTN. It's actually cheaper to buy walnut logs than shards, despite them being harder to get, purely because people gather a ton of walnut for xp. Increasing the xp would mean less people flooding the market with low level mats.
It wouldn't have something to do with the fact that you need X amount of shards in order to even attempt crafting anything, where Walnut Logs are used for very specific items, especially in their unrefined state.Depends on where you look. The only reason shards are as low as they are (arguably still quite pricey) is because you have botters going for extended periods of time gathering nothing but shards. There are always 3-4 retainers that have 5,000+ shards on the Market Board at any given time, and that is just for one shard type! It devalues the time of the honest farmers gathering shards to turn over for gil, but you still make a healthy bit of gil none the less.

Ha...No, I had to grind it out and so should you...And you're complaining at level 29? Just wait until you get to levels 46-50...Title says it all im a lvl 29 miner and it takes 155k exp to level up so as im gathering lvl 30 minerals I get 250 exp for normal quality and 750 for hq at chain of 4. Its sickening really. There has to be some way for S.E. to be able to increase the exp gains for the gathering classes. Its bad enough that gathering itself is a horribly grindy mind numbing experiences in itself. No wonder people are botting these classes.
If you have any suggestions please post what you think.
