I don’t the idea that’s it an MVP award. It implies you’re voting for the best player on the team. Limiting the number of votes you can give/receive a day reinforces this. A simply up voting system would encourage polite behavior. If I had a pleasant run, I would want to up vote everyone in the party. Are we trying to encourage excellent play or well mannered behaviour in the player base?

Rewarding players with “Item Mall” type items won’t make for a lasting incentive and puts a burden to the dev team to continuously be adding more items The idea thrown out there by Moheeheeko that points could be used for repairs is worth looking at. Trading them for company seals, expendables is something people could have value. Having the total points players have accumulated be visible on their profile will create social pressure for them to play nice with others.

as stated already, kicking players that make mistakes or are new will create a stagnant community that has less opportunity to grow then encouraging all players to play nice with up votes

Vote-kick will be implemented.

There will not be broad sweeping vote-kicks of people just because they smell, etc., it is detrimental to a group to do so. They would rather struggle a bit than do so. But you can only struggle with people for so long before it is time to cut the cord.

I see no problem with segregating a community in an MMO, it is already done in some regards. People like to identify with groups and there will be many people who actively seek out negative Karma to be part of that group.

But the other thing is even if things go well, some people either might not be aware of a voting system or just don't care enough to use it at all. It doesn't have to only be about whether someone was a jerk or not.

Youtube videos have more views than thumbs ups, and it's hard to imagine a player on xbox live going through everyone he's played with to rate them all when they could just jump into another match right away.

Not everyone will use the system. Nor should they be forced to.

This will not work as it will only divide the two groups even further. You really think the guy who queues up for the DF for his first run is going to get MVP when everyone is asking him to skip cut scenes? If people are vocal in the group you will have part of the group voting for the people who rush through and the other half voting for the people who want to allow people to watch cut scenes.

Kick would be abused to no end and most likely just lead to people arguing over whether to kick someone or not and wasting time. This is a good idea (better than nothing) imho. There is never going to be a perfect solution no matter how much anybody thinks so. It sounds like the rewards are for fun or vanity type stuff so I don't how someone could get ticked off if they never get any points /shrug +1

I think you missed his point. Players that are 'deserving' of an up vote (or perceive themselves to be) are potentially not going to get up voted for any number of reasons, and as such will come to the forums to complain about it, especially since material rewards are attached to the system. I was going to list off a bunch of scenarios, especially ones inspired by similar system used by LoL/DotA2, however the key thing here is that you are receiving material rewards for 'good behaviour'. As such, there is potential to groom the population into a more positive one, however how do you expect the rude players to act when you don't up vote them? Seems like another bit of fodder to abuse people.

if there is no way to see if someone has up voted you or not, then there is no reason to up vote them for an up vote

more then likely, the votes will be anonymously talleyed and points distributed once a week in order to ensure no one "trades votes"

I don't like it for one simple fact...

There are people out there that only want to play and do runs with their friends and LS/FC people, maybe someone has a static group for the main storyline. Seeing that you cannot up-vote people that you queue with or friends that you enter with, they are punishing players for being loyal to a group and friends. How is it fair to people that have very nice, friendly LS/FC's who like to do runs with their group and help their group get though DF runs?

Isn't the point of LS's and FC's in this game to make a community that you want to play with? To be helpful to that group and to support them? But, you cannot 'vote' them up for being kind people who go out of their way to drop what they are doing to go on a run with those that need help in your group? Therefore people who never or rarely do random DF runs because they have a helpful and supportive group have next to no chance of receiving these 'points' and being able to get these 'items'.


What about 'having a group that is all one server' or 'a group that is all the same LS/FC or same GC'? Suddenly being helpful to your LS/FC/server is NOT a kind, helpful thing deserving some type of MVP?

I think the idea sounds promising. I hope they have the vote kick option in there as well. Even with this, it won't stop the worst trolls.

I also think it needs to be at the end of the dungeon. Otherwise it can be abused too much.
