Do we need a petition to make it possible to change the starting city-state?

As a legacy player myself, I do not see a need to change this. Neither I feel that it is an oversight from SE. SE retain our characters' progression mainly not to let our effort spend in 1.0 go down the drain and having to start all over in 2.0. This is an option they gave us. (I rerolled since I feel for RPG it makes more sense to experience from start). Even as a legacy player with all level 50 jobs would still need to through the entire story again. Not like because you are 50 and you can skip everything. The only difference is the first 15 level and once that is done, the story basically merge regardless of starting city. The original Eorzea is "supposingly" gone already. And this is another Realm. The story is totally different from 1.0. The matter of fact is our character should not actually exist anymore. We are just some new adventurer entering this new realm despite playing on the original legacy character. But as always, there is no way you can please everyone with anything

You can always start as another class and change to your cladd of choice at 15. If youre an RPer imagine it never happened.

LOL! I just had to go to the lodestone to check which my starting city state was, that's how little it matters.

In 1.0 we made other characters to do the other lv 1-15 city storyquests.
We can still do it in ARR if it is only about the different story.

You can keep your first character of course.
Make a second character, do the 1-15 story quest in another city, delete the second character and make another second character to do the 1-15 storyquest in the last city.

A small "notice":

Changing your starting city is an item that SE might also be looking at. Other players have also brought up how they'd like to be a lancer who starts in Ul'dah or something of the like. There are multiple problems that might pop up from this. For example new hunting logs would either need to be made or accomadated to classes whose guilds aren't even in the city they would like to start in.

That being said I don't see the need to have your starting city changed. I get how someone new might want to play with friends of differing classes but its not like you won't reach other soon.

When starting the game and selecting a starting class, you will be assigned to the city-state where that class resides. However, we understand that some users wish to belong to a different city-state even though they started with a specific class. We are currently looking into a system that will allow you to change your city-state affiliation, and we are doing our best to have this ready for patch 2.1.

Did this ever get implemented?

Of course when I first started the game I didn't know that your city-state permanently showed in your profile. As a huge Lalafel fan, I'm happy that I ended up with Ul'dah. I wouldn't have been happy with any other.

One problem I really see with changing the starting city-state is the need to add trainers/guilds for ALL classes in each and every city-state, which seems like more effort than it is worth, imo. I feel each city-state would lose part of their personality or need to even exist if there was nothing special for them outside of pure aesthetics.
