While I agree we should expect a little more, GW2 had years of development. ARR was completely re-made from the ground up within 2 years with 6 months of testing. That's a fairly fast turn-aroundFFXIV launched with less content than GW2, a smaller map than GW2, the same number of classes (of which most were already present 3 years ago), no PVP (GW2 has two forms of PvP) and is on the same content update schedule (and at times, slower, since GW2 events are more creative and intricate). ANet hotfixes their game constantly when bugs are found, patches don't take downtime (you simply logout and download it, log back in), they have overflow servers for when someones homeworld has too many people in a zone.
GW2 is B2P.
FFXIV is P2P.
Expect more.
