Why would I ever bring a DRG to a party?

Bards have 5 notable dps cooldowns; Monks and Dragoons have 2 or 2.5-ish if you want to count a few that way.

Aside from that, Bards should have sustained ST DPS within 15% of a DRG.

10% more damage to bards is enough to bring one considering bards do insane and consistent damage and you usually bring 2 bards (according to the forums)

Because drgs can crit for over 1000 with just weapon skills. You gear out the same dps class and no one other than blm has a higher burst which is a mage and more squishy has a higher burst dmg. There are countless fights in this game where burst dmg is needed in timed fights. Add pops, primal ults, etc.

I have yet to crit for that much... but i'm still using a lvl 44 GC spear. but even with that, i've seen crits at least in the 600 range. And that's only with B4B and Heavy Thrust buff.

Your damage scales up stupid with more gear. I'm pushing 1k crits with all my cds up now, and I've still got quite a bit of gear to go (no relic weapon yet)

The crits on my Dragoon are now over 1k (ofcourse thx to my relic +1). I have no problem getting into parties . I would love to DPS race a BRD that only crits between 150-450. My auto attack potency does more then most of your skills .
