The only time I can see super crafting gear being useful is for super-crafters and super-gatherers....
I have kept up over the last few weeks and saw how many drastic assumptions were being made I felt the need to dispel them. I also saw about the new servers clearing coil, but thats not the a large portion of the population, not even close.
I did find out some more info after looking into crafting a set of gear for my bard. I believe all the brd gear (except for the tunic) require two 2 star materials. The vanya gear only requires one for all except the pants AND you can use it on multiple classes so maybe that should be the focus of some fuss. I won't craft a piece that requires 2 two start mats and I'll agree that the time (SPENT ON MAKING GIL OR FARMING DUNGEONS) is not worth it in that case. However, I still don't see where you think these items are useless for secondary or third roles. All my tokens are going to drg and brd so it will be a while before my whm ever sees a piece of token gear and/or CoB healing gear. In the mean time I'll have my vanya which is better than DL and that I spent less time acquiring than I will any token gear. If you refuse to believe that it's your choice.
Don't take my approach personal like I came to your house and kicked your dog.

I take your approach as if you don't have a clue, which you dont. Vanya takes 1, so what? Darklight cowl is 2 pieces and cost less than 1 vanya robe and 1 vanya hat, doesnt need to have any crafts or gathers leveled, doesnt need materia, and will get you through coil.I have kept up over the last few weeks and saw how many drastic assumptions were being made I felt the need to dispel them. If I didn't have 2 vanya silks from 1.0, I would have taken the darklight cowl. Its simply the smarter move thanks to what they've done. And the time spent gathering mats not being worth it is THE WHOLE POINT OF THE THREAD! 1.0 leftovers are fine and dandy, but everything after that is NOT worth the time.

Darklight cowl is ~1300 tokens. I promise you that I did not spend 13 hours crafting/farming for gil to buy mats for my vanya. Also if you like I can pull out direct quotes from this thread (mostly yours) to show where I got my myths. But it will have to be in the morning because I'm getting sleepy. Just going to throw a few things up on the AH and make some more gil. It's like running a dungeon while you're asleep!

There are no myths here, just some trolls trying to deal out false info due to their own inability to do simple math. you aren't going to fool anyone whos figured it out, so give it up.
>< lost 9 coke when synth cancels before I had done any actions, just as a warning to anyone who realises seconds after starting they didn't add the hq mats, dont go and cancel it wont return mats to inventory.
Reika is correct. There is no point to crafting other than cooking and alchemy. Why would I waste my time crafting if I can just get the best gear grinding dungeons. Crafters are basically being punished for spending so much time crafting. Why would I grind dungeons AND craft when grinding dungeons is all I need to do to have the best gear? You could say "to have the best gear you can until you get the best gear in the game," but that is just a bunch of BS. What so I can have the best gear for a week or two before I have all ilvl 90 gear? And the craftable ilvl 70 gear with full materia isn't even that much better and you don't need it to clear content so what's the point? There is no point, at all. Get your DL, grind BC and get your best gear.
I'm so glad I maxed out all my crafts in 1.0. I thought I was getting ahead for when 2.0 came out. Jokes on me.
That's my bone to pick as well.Reika is correct. There is no point to crafting other than cooking and alchemy. Why would I waste my time crafting if I can just get the best gear grinding dungeons. If I could have crafted without the dungeon grind I would have accepted lower gear. The dungeon gear being rewarded was for the dungeons and I understood that and respected it. Usually people who grind dungeons don't take to crafting and people who migrate to crafting loath dungeons. (me)
I want crafting quests to get coke and potash. I don't care how foolish they make them but I refuse to queue for dungeons to craft.
Do you know what a troll is? It's not someone who disagree's with you and provides justification for their beliefs. If you don't want to debate my point of view then just say so. The insults are unnecessary.
I did the simple math and found that for pieces that require one 2 star material it was much more efficient for me to make gil to buy the pieces then to spam dungeons AND I end up with better gear. I sold one hq robe with penta meld for 2.5m which was enough to for me to craft another hq robe with 5x materia (better materia this time around) and an hq belt w/ x5 materia and still had money left over the sale.
Reika, I completely agree with you that the pieces that require two 2 start materials is not is not balanced when casters can 5/6 pieces with only one of those materials, and it can be used on multiple jobs. If they were(and need to) to equalize the materials (maybe even make drg/mnk/brd gear a little cheaper since they can't share) then no I don't I don't think the current price of coke is to much. But not all pieces require two materials and it's those pieces that I believe are worth crafting vs farming dungeons.

This is also a super good idea but they would need to equalize the 2-star material cost across all the ilvl 70 crafted. That's my bone to pick as well.
