you can fit somewhere around 200 retainers per ward right now(perhaps more, im not counting)When the game was released there was about 3000-4000 players per server. Before they removed the population counter that number dropped to about 500-700 per server. I'd assume its around 300-400 now and the Uldah wards are packed with each person allowed a max of 2 retainers. Say they allow 7 retainers, that makes it a possible 2800 retainers. Say at 2 retainers a person when the game gets a boost of players (assuming back up to 4000 a server) that makes it 8000 retainers. You can hardly fit a 1000 retainers in the wards as is. Moreover, if we`re speaking idealy, there will be about 10K-20K a server much like FFXI had, that is a lot of retainers.
now do that for every ward in each city
thats how many it can support "now"
we arent talking 1 city here, we are talking all of them when it happens

To me, this debate really boils down to one thing. Instantly getting your junk vs. having to zone to get your junk. The current incarnation of wards function just like a traditional AH, in my opinion, albeit not as fast as some might prefer and there still needs to be some tweaks. (like differentiating HQ items)
I'll take an AH any day over this convoluted nonsense.
I want a counter, screw the wards.
Here is one good thing about the wards over a list type AH: I can actually see what an item looks like before I buy it. I realize not everyone cares about something like that but figured I'd throw it out there.
I don't find any part of the wards system to be a hassle. Also I think the wards are much nicer and more pleasant than walking up to a counter for extra convenience. If I wanted extra convenience I would bot. Just because something takes a little time doesn't mean its worthless. It would also be more convenient if we all started as r50.So then what is the point of all the hassle of placing your retainer in the "correct" ward (although there is no correct word really considering most people sell different kinds of stuff) and the hassle of running from ward to ward to ward when you can have the exact same functionality at an "AH counter". Don't think of the AH is the same sense it was in FFXI, think of it as the market wards bundled up. There isn't one good excuse for the wards and never has been. The only extra thing about them is impulse shopping but that alone doesn't warrant having them over a counter with more convenience. I'm sure they can find some better use for your retainers.
This is just a blindly ridiculous self serving statement, but I love how you follow it up with one good excuse. There isn't one good excuse for the wards and never has been
NO to AHThe only extra thing about them is impulse shopping
update: another good excuse for wards:

<cool FFXIV image here>
Hunting for likes it seems.
NO
LOL not really I`m just making conversation but I know you from ZAM and I know how blind you are for everything FFXIV, you`ve been defending the game since Alpha so don`t really care what you have to say.
Still not one good excuse in favor of the market wards other than impulse shopping. Forget convenience then, if we`re talking ideal this is nowhere near ideal. Humanity is built on ideal. Everything we make we make efficiently because its ideal, the only thing that holds us back is the economy so our efficiency is only held back by the economy. Since the ÀH counter Vs. Wards isn`t affected by RL economy, and wouldn`t affect in game economy if `done properly, there is no reason not to go for the most efficient method.
I used to be anti-wards, until they made it so easily accessable and tbh I prefer it. But I could care less.
I would like an Auction in the traditional sense, you put an item up and people BID on it not buy, and whoever bids most when time is up gets it, could be good for rare items. (think FF9 auction)
When convenience doesn`t break the rules it should be welcome, I don`t get your logic.I don't find any part of the wards system to be a hassle. Also I think the wards are much nicer and more pleasant than walking up to a counter for extra convenience. If I wanted extra convenience I would bot. Just because something takes a little time doesn't mean its worthless. It would also be more convenient if we all started as r50.
Funny how you never gave a good excuse in favor. When I`m the one making the argument and I`m the only who has given any good excuse for the wards, you have nothing.
Just no for the sake of no I guess. No, why exactly.
