Arcanist-->Summoner-->Black Mage Possible??

When I got my Ifrit-egi, I notice that the THRM class actions (ex. like blizzard II) is area damaging spell (which I like) but its not available in the additional classes action list? I only got my THRM to lvl. 15 for the Ifrit mission but heard from someone that you don't need to play as that class as your main class levels up then your thrm level goes up to? Then I read somewhere that Black Mage is best class you can pick for THRM for damage wise and looks and I want to pursue Black Mage class but is it possible?

You must be 30 THM and 15 ACN to become a Black Mage...If that's what you're asking.
THM is the only class that brances to Black Mage.

Black Mage requires Archer 15, not Arcanist.

yes it is Archer not Arcanist

you can use your Arcanist skills on a Black Mage though

So, from what I gathered from your post, you want to be a Black Mage without leveling Thaumaturge. You can't. Arcanist can become a Scholar and a Summoner. Only.

For the record, the Blizzard 2 and Fire 2 spells are unkind to use in a group. (except in specific situations) Draws massive hate and doesn't do as much damage. Please don't be one of those guys that spam it throughout the dungeon because it looks cool. Please.

Bliz 2 works well for groups of critters, you do more dps than casting fire I's and your tank can easily hold agro on it enough that they die before you get agro enough to die. IE Fire I will do 120 per hit, at the same time bliz 2 would do 60 per critter it hits.

Just have to know when you can and cant use it.

I agree with Archaego.

I play a THM and use Bliz II in dungeons when there are a bunch of adds to deal with. Never have I drawn enmity while doing so. (The tanks knew how to hold enmity.) After we cleared those fights the tanks all said that they love that AoE help.

Healers love it as well, because it clears the trash pronto-quick, saving them a bunch of heal-casts.

I can't help it that the animation is mind-boggling.
