Is anyone annoyed by the HUGE number of people using bots on this game?

I think its just a matter of what they believe is the root cause. But in this thread, not too many people wanted to look beyond what the problem was. If they only considered what the cause of the problem was, then we wouldn't have gotten into that arguement.

the root of the problem isnt as simple as some people think it is though
the bot program being used, is apperently tied in to dozens of MMOs, so its not exactly something thats being made for 14 in specific
and it has nothing to do with the way the game is made

people who want to cheat, will cheat, and i think thats the real truth behind it, some people just cant comprehend why anyone would cheat in an especialy simple system compared to a tedious system, but since many are inherently lazy, that alone is reason enough

a change to the syste, will just mean a change to how the bot programs work, i dont think itl affect the number of them at all
enforcement is what will change it

I do know that its tied to other MMORPGs, i've seen the website that sells these programs. However, you have to consider questioning why people bot in the first place. What would make you want to bot anything in game, not implying that you would.

To me, if i were given the opportunity to bot, I would do so mainly in the crafting classes. Why? Because I'm not going to sit there and press the same buttons over and over again, it takes too long and its tedious. I'd rather bot my crafting classes while I do my College Accounting homework.

Why am i not using any bots? Because its just wrong. There really is no reason to rush all of your classes to rank 50. At least for me there is no reason. Other people have their own though.

Creating a new and less tedious way to craft, then I will admit, It is the same thing as before, where I would rather bot and do my homework. However, crafting wouldn't be so tedious, and I could keep my dignity and not have to resort to botting, because:

A) Crafting takes less time now
B) I dont have to input too many commands
C) Its not worth the risk!

Bottom line is that I'd have much less of a reason to bot. There will always be a reason to bot, each player will eventually find their own, but you have to think of the bigger picture, or rather, the development level of things. How to prevent further botting activity, and how to eliminate.

you dont want to cheat, the people who use these programs either think its ok, or know its not, but dont care
they know they will get banned if they do it, but they do it anyway

these programs are advertised to help you level faster, farm when your sleeping to make extra money, and so on and so forth

they arent advertised to target "making the game easier"

but as i said, the best way to get rid of non rmt players doing this, is to enforce the rules to the extreme. mass bannings and investigations. we will get these when it all goes p2p im sure but for now its not really happening as much as some of us want, which is why it seems more rampant

Clearly you haven't played a game with an easier system. Especially since the biggest MMO out there (WoW) essentially has a built in bot.

All i can really say is, continue to report every bot you see, and keep the pictures and names of the bots, or perhaps any videos, inside a folder. Whenever the time comes, submit that folder to SE and those people will have played for over 7 months in vain. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Then again Kuro, she is saying that no matter how easy the game is, people are still going to bot.

If a game can maintain a consistent number of account bans for botting, then that may stagger the botting community.

ive seen 3 bots banned that ive been reporting, i havent exactly seen many since(1 was even in my shell)

Totally agree 100%
Lazy people will cheat no matter what. If it's easy, hard, whatever. They take the quickest route to getting what they want, even if it's against the rules or harmful to others.
I agree that banning people for botting will reduce the number of botters. There will always be few who come back to try it again, but I can't see real players doing this more than once or twice. They get fed up and leave, or smarten up and behave.

As for changing crafting, I like it the way it is. I wouldn't be bothered if they made more of a game of it, made it more entertaining, but if they made it faster, or instant... I don't think I'd like it anymore. When I craft I'd like something to DO. Rather than hit one button and be done with it.

This sounds terribly terribly boring. ; ; I would hate not being able to do anything on a crafting class. Not everyone wants to hit a button and go afk. Some people like crafting for crafting.
