    Marauder's lost Legacy

    Brandish Marauder 4 Swing your weapon in a sweeping motion, dealing slashing damage to nearby enemies.

    Defender Marauder 10 Tighten your guard, increasing physical and magic defense while reducing attack power and magic potency. Increases enmity generation while under the effect of Steadfast.

    Fracture Marauder 14 Deliver a devastating blow, dealing blunt damage and rendering the target incapable of using weaponskills. Can only be executed following a parry.

    Disorient Marauder 18 Flick dust, sand, or soil at an enemy, reducing the target's evasion and increasing enmity. Effect may stack up to three times.

    Murderous Intent Marauder 26 Throw yourself into your blows, increasing critical hit rate of physical attacks.

    Warmonger Marauder 30 Put on a threatening display, increasing enmity generation and drawing the attacks of the target and nearby enemies.

    Rampage Marauder 34 Increases your attack speed and parry rating for each physical attack against you, and restores HP for each critical hit you land. Cannot be used simultaneously with Berserk.

    Barbaric Yawp Marauder 34 Sound a booming cry, interrupting the casts of nearby enemies.

    Whirlwind Marauder 46 Delivers a melee attack to enemies in range. Combo Action: Path of the Storm Combo Bonus: Resets Berserk effect when active to increase damage.

    My point in posting this is to show the number of tools Marauder had in FFXIV 1.0 that were lost over time.

    Warrior Job from FFXIV patch 1.23 to FFXIV ARR are very similar fundamentally - but certain emphasis on attack speed and parry rating was lost. It's noticeable for many players now experiencing Warrior at end game; something is missing currently from this class and job (in my opinion).

    Mainly I notice the changes all seem to have stripped Warrior of many Threat generation, Critical hits, HP recovery, Attack Speed, and Parry rating tools it once had - and needed - to survive.

    Yes, MRD and WAR lost some of the focus on parrying in particular. The funny thing is that Disorient would be pretty damn useful to MRD.

    What I'm dreading is that the "in lieu of" approach they took with WAR will trickle down to other tank classes. PLD is a mitigation tank. WAR is a tank with self-heals in lieu of mitigation. SAM may be a tank focused on parries in lieu of having mitigation. I'm just hoping I'm wrong and the MRD/WAR concerns get addressed.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I didn't even cover Mighty Strikes, Steadfast, or the other multitude of other tools available at the time - sadly it's hard to even find the information anymore to repost and share!!

    I hope Warrior receives some of it's old tools back - we could use something analogous to Rampage that can mirror Shield Oath. Fracture granting Pacification was also very handy. I know most people wouldn't say no to having a few new(old) tools at this point.

    I wouldn't really use Rampage, but what I would do is have Inner Beast massively increase your parry rating for X seconds, or simply have Defiance increase your parry rating and reduce damage taken by 10% in addition to the +25% max HP.

    I want to play that warrior. Many more tools to offset the huge incoming damage we see, but sticking with the active theme and not turning into pld-style mitigation.

    I'm guessing we wouldn't ever see new skills until expansion time, right?

    That would be a pretty cool Warrior. I'd play that Warrior. I'd imagine that Warrior would actually be pretty good. Shame we don't get that Warrior.

    Technically these (and more) already existed, and were all changed or removed with the shift from 1.0~2.0 patch. Warrior right now can tank and tank well - but it's not easy for anyone involved. The higher in content you go the more apparent it becomes that to play a Warrior you need to be perfect essentially all the time; and you can still be killed with relative ease. Healers must focus on you, and at times even ignore other party members, to keep you alive in these situations which is frankly unacceptable.
