I have seen my friend tank he plays in JP server and been traumatized by the bad client server latency and RED danger zones, every time he gets out of the red zone and stay
way far away from it he still get damage from it. poor healers have to suffer

AND MOST IMPORTANT THING is the STUNS , he was off tanking chimera and and assigned to stun dragon roar as soon as he saw the spell bar been cast he clicked on shield bash WHICH should have stunned the monster- canceled the casting- but it didnt the spell was casted and everyone blame him for not stunning soon kicked replaced after few tries, i dont know if that the case in US-EU servers but i have noticed:

Even PLD takes alot of damage EVEN when using his -dmg reduction spells on the big spells, i played ffxi and loved how PLD where the kings of magic mitigation and physical , i thought they would be the same in FFXIV:ARR but compared to FFXI PLDs they are crap.

I bet everyone will switch to evasion tanks in the future like SAM or NIN and most MRD will switch to DRK instead of Tanking

The deal with the shield bash is likely caused by the diminishing returns kicking in. If other people with stuns try to help stun, the stun becomes less effective until it won't work for a short time.

I had the same problem with Chimera last night. Other players were trying to be helpful, but this is just one of those fights where you have to trust your interrupter and hope for the best.

If you are talking avout rams voice( which is the only real danger in that fight) a BRD os supposed to silence it. Shield bash gets diminshing returns amd eventually stops working.

huh? tanking works just fine. learn to play ur class better if you are having problems tanking then you are probably doing something wrong /shrug

NIN will most likely be a DPS like it was originally intended. Remember: Players made nin into a tank in the first place. Nothing about a ninja in general spells "tank". SAM too will most likely be another DPS type.

This is not true. I have killed Chimera about a dozen times now with the same Paladin interrupting *every* voice, both dragon's and ram's, without any DR problems. The issue is other dps/tanks trying to interrupt, or your interrupter is missing.

As previously stated, put one person on who is competent and this fight is a breeze.

Latency on a JP server isn't broken, that's working as intended, he'll just have to wait until server transfers are up and go to a NA server. I'm in the west coast, still get 100 m/s on the NA server, so its really only good for EST in my opinion.

2nd, that stun issue is most definitely someone else using stuns and messing him up. Its just like Ifrit, one tanks, one stuns, if suddenly someone else is using stuns, the off tank won't be able to stun and cracks will form (aka dumb dd facerolling, or dumb smn thinking - use ifrit on ifrit). IT should be spammed in chat if they keep doing it, STOP USING STUNS, STOP USING STUNS, ONLY OFF TANK USES STUNS!. If they don't speak english, drop party, forget about it, its not worth it.

I used to get hit all the time from "red zones" while tanking early on levels until I noticed I had to turn to face the mob. Maybe it has all been coincidence, but really would get hit no matter how far away or directly behind the mob. I started to strafe instead and kept facing the target no more hits, like I said could be random or could be that I just got better. /shrug
