I have seen my friend tank he plays in JP server and been traumatized by the bad client server latency and RED danger zones, every time he gets out of the red zone and stay
way far away from it he still get damage from it. poor healers have to suffer

AND MOST IMPORTANT THING is the STUNS , he was off tanking chimera and and assigned to stun dragon roar as soon as he saw the spell bar been cast he clicked on shield bash WHICH should have stunned the monster- canceled the casting- but it didnt the spell was casted and everyone blame him for not stunning soon kicked replaced after few tries, i dont know if that the case in US-EU servers but i have noticed:

Even PLD takes alot of damage EVEN when using his -dmg reduction spells on the big spells, i played ffxi and loved how PLD where the kings of magic mitigation and physical , i thought they would be the same in FFXIV:ARR but compared to FFXI PLDs they are crap.

NIN will most likely be a DPS like it was originally intended. Remember: Players made nin into a tank in the first place. Nothing about a ninja in general spells "tank". SAM too will most likely be another DPS type.

If it's a pure evasion tank probably not, as they don't really work. You are ghod-mode all the way up to the time you fail to evade, then without the mits to survive you just go *splat*.

The deal with the shield bash is likely caused by the diminishing returns kicking in. If other people with stuns try to help stun, the stun becomes less effective until it won't work for a short time.

I had the same problem with Chimera last night. Other players were trying to be helpful, but this is just one of those fights where you have to trust your interrupter and hope for the best.

This is not true. I have killed Chimera about a dozen times now with the same Paladin interrupting *every* voice, both dragon's and ram's, without any DR problems. The issue is other dps/tanks trying to interrupt, or your interrupter is missing.

As previously stated, put one person on who is competent and this fight is a breeze.

Not the OP. As you can see, he says Paladins (shield bash) run into DR on their interrupt and can't interrupt every voice - which is incorrect - which is what I posted.

Maybe read what I quoted first?

The guy who quoted you is correct. This is not true.

Shield bash will work every time on Chimera if the PLD is the only one doing it. In general, Shield Bash will work 3 times in a row on a mob. On the fourth, it will resist. However, if you allow the mob to use another ability in-between your Shield Bashes, it resets the Stun resist.

So a PLD being the only stunner, you could have the following situation: Ram's voice, Dragon's voice, Ram's voice, <insert random other ability>, Dragon's voice.

You could stun all three voices in a row, then as long as you let the random ability go, you'll be able to stun the next dragon's voice. The problem that occurs is other players "helping" with stun. Every time I've ever wiped on a boss because my stuns were resisted was because someone else was stunning as well. As soon as I told everyone not to stun at all, there were no issues.
