Man. You're right. What a bunch of idiots we are, expecting to participate in the content of this game we're all playing; which is all being funneled through this one specific door.
This dude has the right of it. I mean. Frankly. We're straight lucky that they even let us keep persistent characters, right?
And on a serious note. I don't know whether it's the denialists or the people conflating being optimistic with being apologetic for some of the games more serious issues I find more disheartening at this point. I'm incredibly enthusiastic about this game. I, honestly, love it despite it's myriad of flaws and often over sanitized approach to design. It's beautiful, and I find it surprisingly compelling. I think, eventually, it'll be a truly fantastic product.
People paid for a product, and are subscribing to a service. It's not as if they're asking Square to give them access to HBO or make them sandwiches. They aren't asking for something weird and unreasonable. People are being denied access to a part of the game that's incredibly core to it, by Square's own design. This isn't people saying "Well! I don't like that X class has X skill! In my opinion...". This is simply people wanting to play the game.
They made this 'door' the one place players are going to pile up when they hit the iLevel gear hump, and then made it worse by not allowing more than a few dozen people through said 'door' at a time, and then requiring people to immediately run to the back of the line to get through the one 'door' a dozen more times. People aren't complaining about the door (though it would be nice to have another door or two as an alternative), people aren't complaining about returning to the end of the line after walking through it; they're legitimately, completely reasonably, annoyed that they they're being arbitrarily prevented from even approaching the door in the first place.
