I think they just wanted to reuse a hair style they added into the game. Get the most out of an asset. The other two are normal hair styles players can pick. I bet we will be able to get Lightning hair when they add the barber shop.

I can see that but I mean really look at the image its TOO much of a coincidence that they look like these characters plus square said in beta lightning was going to be in the game. I don't know what to think anymore....

Yes, but every single major NPC has a hairstyle from the character creator. There's no reason they couldn't decide that those look close enough to existing Final Fantasy characters and run with it.

It seems to me that the Ascians may have a way to catch people through the void to further their own ends.

It's obviously not clear and they (SE) don't want to spoil things completely at this moment. But that is Lightning. I put over 120 hours into XIII and I got XIII-2 to 100% and I've quite familiar with her in game model.

People I have discussed this with think that the 3rd isn't Cloud it's Tidus.

Tidus would be interesting. I liked the ending to FFX quite a bit, so who knows where his existence could turn up. Personally, I feel it was more likely that the character creator's hairstyle would be more likely to be modeled after Cloud than Tidus based on sheer popularity. Who knows, though?

So I wasn't the only person who noticed this! If you start looking at the other unmasked characters as well, don't they resemble Balthier and Cloud? Even the earrings Balthier wears are similar, and this appears to be the only Ascian with earrings.

That earring does look very Bathier for sure, but that hairstyle is in game, so not totally convinced but I can see the similarity.

Clearly that's lightning, no doubt.


the other guy that hair is just so Tidus. It's really hard to get a pic from the side at that angle without playing FFX, but I don't know of anyone else in XIV with that haircut.

More like the other way around, really. If you read the plot premise for Lightning Returns, I think it may hint as to how they're going to tie Lightning's world to FFXIV's.

listen to it in japanese. it clearly sounds like a woman in the japanese version... too bad I don't know if it's Lightning's Va from there.... and the blue hair can be because of the room being not very bright and having a weird lighting to it.

It looks like her and I thought the same but *shrugs* I'll just wait and see if it is her.
