I support this, as long as I get a name change option as well. Lia Merenia just wouldn't fit a male mi'qote very well. but yeah, I'm all for a one time race/gender change if/when they do add them in.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

The point about the genders possibly being NPC only is a good one. I certainly hope this isn't the case, but it could very well be given the wording. I wish Square-Enix would clarify that for us, as well as respond to this thread in general.
Merlwyb is already being implemented now in the game (Will most likely show up as an official model in 1.18) Which is way before the PS3 release.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Signed! I dont wanna loose all the time I put into my character!
Yes, I want this. I don't intend to change, but I'd like to see others who want to change, be able to.
I am in the camp of not wanting to change. but i fully support a one shot change for those that do. would even go a step further and endorse a week long grace period after the change for players to be able to revert back to there old race for those that have regret about making the leap.
An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
Spoke with Yoshida regarding the ability for current players to have some kind of "one-time switch" for any new genders that appear in the future, he said that he appreciates the comments and that he'll consider it.
Sounds good!
Thanks for the answer!
