new trend happening in dungeons

After reading this, it sounds like I've been pretty fortunate - as a new tank.

In the first raid I did (Sastasha), the monk talked me through everything, and even marked the enemies. Consequently, the next raid, Tam Tara, was a cakewalk.

I caught the wrong half of a bomb explosion in Copperbell (and got locked out of the Slime room) but nobody seemed to mind - and we finished the raid easily.

And in Ifrit, an experienced guy helped us even though Hell Fire killed us three times.

I am getting increasingly nervous the more I gain levels, however! It seems like it's only a matter of time before somebody notices I'm not very good at tanking

This. I ask if there are any first timers too because there are certain instances with mechanics they need to know. I won't drop a group because there are first timers in there, after all, we were all first timers at some point..

thats the reason why i made this rant post :P after all we all r 1st timers at some point.. just think its kinda silly to ditch a dungeon group cause theres first timers in it ;/

Yeah there's always guys like those. It was my first time entering Amdapor keep, I've read those article said that this one is a major DPS check and need quite shiny gears to run. I ignored this and just get into one via DF with my Fresh lvl 50 gears (Drachen Set). Had several wipes on Demon Wall, one of the guy left (Japanese, and mumble something about my fault. I pretend to be stupid foreigner and ignored him). The tank tell me what to do every each of bosses before entering, etc etc and didnt post any single complain each wipe (mostly because of my fault). We managed to cleared the dungeon with 2 mins time left, antaboga almost killed us all,

but heck, I'm not going to get into Amdapor ever again.... Until I got my darklight set. I feel bad at least do my future team a favor and get some better gear when rolling.

personally i wouldnt blame any1 for bein under geared tho.. heck i prolly have been more then one occasion probally still am XD but not every1 knows about the tomestones etc or the npc to exchange them to or even the recommended gear level for each dungeon xD i didnt even know myself lol 1st dungeon i got the tomestones im like in party wth r these? no1 knew :P

It's interesting isn't it, that people will behave badly towards new tanks and in the same breath will complain that the lack of tanks is killing the game. I'm a very slow player on games like these, as you can probably see from my characters level, but I do enjoy playing tank classes and I like the idea of the Gladiator and I like the way they play; that said if I get people hassling me for not having played dungeons before then that person is likely to go on my ignore list.

All that said though, there are some great people in games like these it's just unfortunate that the idiots are often louder.

The real issue comes at end game. I'm in the end zone now, with chat flooded by "must be exp..." - " must have gear of ........." - "no first timers..." It will only get worse when gear score arrives.

yup n lots will feel left out... how can they get the experince or the gears without doin dungeons in the first place lol more people help others the more the game will benefit in the long run ;/

And this is why it is important to get a good FC that help out the newer players just starting to get into the end game dungeons. This whole trend started with WoW raiding. The only game I enjoyed raiding in was EQ2, but that is because I had a great guild that learned by wiping and didn't get discouraged. We also let guild mates who just turned max level join in and learn the fights and also get raid gear.
