Takes months to get AF2 with the tomestones cap. That's why the Allagan gear is comparable because you're gonna want to gear all your jobs and that'll take years to do 300 myths at a time.

I'm not sure that was the response. I think Yoshi said that because of the request they would look into ability enhancing stats like in AF gear in v1, but nothing about bland and repetitive stats on other gear. Pretty sad :/

It should be no surprise those who chose the idea of Gear progression following linear paths are usually the same people who mostly hate "math/theorycrafting" simply because they relate it to the type of players who use it simply to stroke their ego.
But the truth is, elitism and "theorycrafting" is already present in this game, except its dumbed down so simple a first grader could point out which is better. You're just replacing one form of Elitism with another, goes from "You're not using Xbuild? Gimp" to "No Darklight and Relic+1? Gimp". Nothing changes except stats are now boring and thoughtless.
Can change the numbers on the gear but you won't change people. Boring stats and linear progression has never stopped It before, so why condemn a game to "Copy > Paste" Modern MMO Blandtastic? Might as well spice up the armor if we all know people will never change.

I much prefer it like this, than in XI when all of the stats were obscure and made no sense.
"Oh look, a dagger with +3 earth resistance! EXCITING!"

Only gripe I've got is with Accuracy, unlike Speed/Determination/Crit all which provide reliable damage output gains, Accuracy serves ZERO purpose, unless you are one of the handful of players already doing Bahamut's Coil, and even then no one really knows just how much Accuracy you need in there.
Accuracy is completely useless while leveling and doing Light Party dungeons, as the hit cap is so ridiculously easy to reach that one or two pieces are more than enough to cap you. Since damage dealer gear is generally LOADED with Accuracy, you simply can't avoid hit capping and then overcapping. There is no way to avoid dead-weight Accuracy on Darklight gear, short of sticking with lower level items.
They should make hit cap baseline and rework Accuracy to serve another purpose, or scrap it altogether.
i actually fully agree with this and this was brought up before.
ITEMS ARE BORING.
a level 50-60-70 whatever item is just the same as a level 5 item? really square enix? I traversed these lands and saved all these people and no item in this game is epic. not even a little bit. not weapon procs, no resistances to enemy types on armors, no thorns, no burn dmg, no slow ice dmg, no summon temp pet on weapon strike. I mean not even a generic red trail or whatever color fancies you on your weapon when you swing.
generic to the max.

I enjoy the subtlety. I enjoyed it in XI too. There are the odd OTT weapons and armour, but for the most part it looks usable.i actually fully agree with this and this was brought up before.

/signed.
I miss the days when we had weapons and armor with unique stats and procs.
Urgh
Where are the cool weapons like the Kraken Club or the Ridill? Where are the iconic Haubergeon and Kirin's Osode ?
You have fixed many problems that FFXI had, but you also have a huge library of great ideas that you are leaving behind... Give us RARE items, gives us stats that will take months to figure out... You gave accessibility for everyone, now give depth for the people that are actually loyal to your mmo.
