Every healer needs to have this macro binded:

    /ac <heal_skill> <tt>

so you can remain targeting the boss / mob while seeing your own aggro order on that mob yet still able to heal the target that the mob targets
    A <- you got aggro
2 <- you are next in line, watch the meter
3 <- you are ok just don't get crazy
4 <- what the heck have you been doing

besides from looking at the name color of the mob, you have to select the mob to see the threat level you have on it compared to your party member

I haven't played a tank, but I am married to one. So I know how to NOT draw aggro (I almost NEVER use Medica btw - except in very very rare emergency cases).

The flip side is that tanks should be required to play a healer role, specifically CNJ. So should DPS. I think most everyone would have more respect for teammates if they understood the other class.

Healers don't often get the respect they deserve. A "tank" said the other day, 'anyone can do that job (speaking of Brayflox), just stand back there and spam cure while popping pots'. I will never party with him. Ever.

You can already see your threat. It's on the freaking enemy mobs frame. You don't have to target anything to see it.

Except if you target specific mob in a party, you can see everyone's threat relative to your and its amount, instead of a red, green, arrow-like flashing.

Well sometimes it's hard to avoid medica when trigger happy DPS keeps pulling ahead of the tank, resulting multiple low health situations. I guess sometimes it's better to just let the DPS die for their mistakes than using medica, getting hate and dying yourself.

For those sayin under lvl 20 healers need to spam to keep tank alive. I was healing as a acn.... Never once did the tank or any members die... And all without spamming... Only bad thing is now my FC likes me playin as sch more then anything lol.

The only time prior to level 20 that a dd should ever be stealing hate is when they're ignoring the kill order. Who's responsibility it is to mark things is a different matter (i'd personally prefer it if ranged dd would handle marking things but that's just me being semi-lazy and overly bias). The tank in a light party should be the pointman, leading the group. If they don't want to follow, then they can go take their chances re-queuing for duty finder as a dps. (Basically, if they don't want to be lead by some one else, then they're not worth playing with since they don't understand the importance of unity).

I'm a healer who moonlights as a tank. Tank is on the back burner atm since I've got too much going on.

You will never have it easier than level 15-20 as a tank. Even mad overhealers are no match for the numerous bards and blms who unload as soon as you shield lob or tomahawk and they only get more damage abilities over time.

As a healer, I don't really concern myself with aggro too much. I'm aware of it but the way I see it, I heal what needs to be healed. If the group is taking more damage than it needs to and I have to heal more as a result, aggro is not my problem at that point. I'd rather have somebody complain about me pulling threat than complain about me letting them die. CC really helps though. I don't believe healing generates any enmity on a mob that's asleep.

I'm going to say this, it's not just the Healers fought that they get aggro so easy. The tanks in this game are too squishy. I'm not blaming the people playing tanks, it's just the way it is. I'm sitting there watching a tank get hit after the pull and their health goes down by a third of their HP pool. You guys shouldn't be getting hit that hard. I don't know if every tank I've gotten grouped with isn't gearing right, or they need to look at the survivability of tanks in general. MAR more so then GLD.
