I played in FFXI and I live in virginia and I have over 200 spook kills, I got my Hairpin from Valkrum Emperor, and I killed the dude in the castle (the beastmen, forget his name or the place) at least 10 times. I made over 10 mil gil killing NM's and I just sat their legitally throwing darts or dia at w/e popped, landed many claims.

I agree with the OP, they should add them back. It gave people a chance at a unique and rare item that they could sell for big gil, or use it on their character.

So basically you want over camped, RMT promoting, 3rd Party Tool promoting NMs in the game.

SE already learned from XI and if they would bring back NMs again outside FATEs. I see nothing but forced pop or drops not worth the effort to ppl like you just looking to farm gil.

While I agree that hunting NMs was quite a fun and unique experience, it was an FFXI thing. I just don't see how such a system could work in a game like XIV.

To give an example, say you're in Western Thanalan hunting for Leaping Lizzie, you kill tons of lizards to make her spawn, pop her, kill her, then what would she drop to make it worth it? A pair of green boots that would last you 5-6 levels? That wouldn't even be worth the effort.

The reason hunting NMs was such a fun experience in XI, was because they had the potential to drop amazing items that would last you most of your leveling process. There's just no way that they could pull something like that off in XIV. Not that I can think of.
