Right Click + Report is all we need, like WOW has, it puts a session-long block on them, doesn't pollute your blacklist and sends all the needed info to SE. Given SE's history with RMT in FFXi it's asinine they expect people to bother faffing around with the 'Contact Support' mechanism they're demanding we use.

To those advocating that the current system is fine, just consider SE provide NO WAY to mass-remove blacklist entries, you'll have to go through the tedious multi-click process tro remove each one individually!

Just to let you know, if you hold Ctrl+C while their name is highlighted you can copy their name, and then paste it into your block list with Ctrl+v so that makes it a little easier. But it is still way too time consuming and awkward to actually REPORT these people.. I have over 60 of them on my BL now it is crazy!! As soon as I am done with 1 of them.. another 2 show up!

For PC players, just use a macro:

    /blist add <r>

This will blacklist the last person to whisper you. It takes 1 second to press the button then!

Thank you, that is very useful! But what do we do when our 200/200 BL limit is reached? (which will be in about another 2 weeks at the current rate!)

i made the suggestion in another thread to restrict /sh /yell to something like level 10 and also possibly spamming to a cooldown like 3-5 mins instead of a few secconds.

this should not impact new legit players as it only takes a couple hours to get to level 10 and sounds reasonable to restrict to level 10. this would not eliminate the problem but would certainly slow down the occurance of spamming.

while you can say they can spam in /say but its less of an impact and is not zone wide.

I, myself have a full blist of 200/200 so i cannot add anymore to my banlist.

Bull. Like I said, chat will still be flooded with the massive walls of text regardless of having this option or not. How about we get to the ROOT of the problem instead of just cutting off the branches every time they grow new ones? There is no reason there shouldn't be a system in place that prevents the same message from being sent dozens of times in a 30-60 second length of time. It can just pick up on the same words being repeated that way the spammers can't get around it by adding something at the beginning or end. Hell, sending a buncha messages in a short timeframe shouldn't be allowed. Not saying add a cooldown to EVERY message, but like if someone says like 5 or 10 things in a 10 second length of time THEN they get a cooldown. Normal people will never run into issues with that unless they're truly spamming because who says 5 to 10 unique things in the same chat within a 5-10 second period of time?

Quote of the year...by far the truth.

    Preach it.

The root of the problem is developers making games with items and systems in them that enable or allow for RMT. Isn't it curious how they always seem to at least leave one aspect in that can be exploited and cause the rise of gilselling and coin/item farming RMT?
Never once in the history of MMORPGS - when a developer said 'we don't like gilselling either' have they been honest. THEY LOVE the attention and cash flow it brings.

It would be funny to see what the gil spammers would do if SE made it so you couldn't trade or mail Gil to people.

What's quite scary, is that there must be a market for Gilspamming. Who's buying this? Who thinks to themselves - "sounds legit, might do that" when they see a gilspam? Perhaps the solution would be for SE to sell the Gil themselves - not a great solution, but if its available officially, perhaps the Gilspammers will just go away as their market evaporates. At this point it feels like its a handful of gamers versus hundreds of Gilspammers. I look at the guy next to me wearing just his pants chopping logs and thinking "you're a spammer, I hate you, you're the reason we can't get matches in Dungeons." or something.

But yeah, how hard can it be to limit the posting method and make it easier to /blist.
