I agree with Peregrine and others in that the "1st wave" of NM Gear and Faction NM Gear were made under a different time, and different Producer / Team.

Square can always adjust the stats (and visuals) hopefully, or as you say, maybe Materia Customization, or they'll go the way of the Dodo and be obsolete (unfortunate).

You can definitely tell the new team under Yoshida put a lot of thought into most of the new R30 NM Drops, with custom 3D Models / Textures that the original NM Drops didn't have (many of which were just retextured / re-used assets).

And I hope they redo the Harlequin Gear set (it looks so ugly! (>_<)).
