Let me get this straight: You want to do dungeons and other people want to do FATEs. So your proposal is to limit the number of FATEs people can do so that they are forced to do what you want instead?
If you're queued with a full group then the reason your queue isn't popping is because the number of instances allowed for the dungeon you're trying to do are full and you are waiting for one to open up. Either way this has nothing to do with fates which is what the OP is about lol.I have been queued with a full group and it's been over 15 minutes... something is going on >.>
hmmm, bit hard you know, i'm happy the fates or there because there just arent enough descent quests around and levequests just give to low exp. queue to the things you have to do for it! but i do enjoy a good dungeon once in a while, like i said before it's a game you have to play it, not rush to everything, do everything but not to mutch of something and you come to enjoy all the world has to offer, aldo SE put some more quests ingame (suprise us) questing from 45-50 kinda sucksand that's btw also the reason theres so manny guys running fates at that level...
There aren't even enough quests in game to take a player 1-50, so yeah there is no choice in the matter. You have to grind FATEs. If you want a second job, you have no other options to fall back on atm.Duty Finder fails imo on part of players partying for FATEs. It seems alot of people have rushed to cap using FATEs. Leaving other players like me sitting for hours if not days using DF to try and get dungeons done for main storyline. You can even shout while using DF and you won't get any help. FATEs should have had some limit on them ie: how many times a day you can do each one. Thus zones are becoming dead when it concerns dungeons. Quite frustrating.
i still get instant queues on healet and tank classes. so that means there still is a fair bit of players on df.
although you do have to note that certain dungeons such as the temple of qarn simply deter people from running it...
Fates obviously offer too much exp... or so it seems on your first class and there are tons of quests. Without doing anything to adjust fates I think they either need to increase the amount of exp for dungeon runs, or give us other reasons to do them. I personalty prefer dungeons to fate grinding, and would love for them to be as viable a source of exp and GC badges as fates are.
tl dr: Leave fates alone, and make dungeons an equally viable source of exp and GC badges.
I really think running dungeons for xp should be encouraged. Whether this is done via buffing the dungeons (Higher xp, better drops, maybe giving all dungeons at least SOME tomestone drops...), or by nerfing FATEs, folks should need to run these for the best xp. One of the reasons I feel folks don't do dungeons much isn't just because FATEs give gobs more xp, but also because they're a pain. But quite frankly, they're a pain you need to go through.
Running FATEs is fairly mindless. You run from point to point and whatever your role is, you can get away with just DPSing. Unfortunately this also means you don't learn the various things you learn in a dungeon, like watching your enmity (whether avoiding it or keeping it) or pulling mobs. One can argue that players can learn these when they go through their single run on the story dungeons, but what use is that when you're on your second or later class, having already done the story?
Now, I'm not saying FATEs should be nerfed into oblivion, far from it. They should serve as a nice thing to do while waiting on a DF queue, or when running through an area and seeing that it's up. I just think the main xp method should be something that rewards players for completing a challenge, not something that puts people to sleep.
Well, I was not sold on FATEs too first. Heard they ruin community, like the Dungeon finder of WoW, or WoW itself. That they are the devil an should be avoided.
Fair enough, I did some Fates here and there... was nice, easy, fun to a degree. I do play a DD, meaning I tend to wait 30-80 Minutes for an invite to a Dungeon group. So lets look at it from the Math point of view. I can spend about 60 minutes waiting for a group, then spend another 40 playing that dungeon and get like 1/5 of a level and possibly some equipment.
Alternative rout, I go to an area of my level, ask for a FATE group and get an invite, play for 100 minutes and have like 0,7-1 levels in that time. Yeah I stopped doing dungeons, since honestly, waiting and shouting for members is not what I consider fun.
FATEs are not the problem. They are just easier to access and give a better reward/time ratio.
It'd be nice for you guys unable to find people to join you in dungeons to actually search around for people to help you guys out. Seriously.
One step to do so is join a nice Free Company. Instead of shouting " Looking for group! (insert level , job and dungeon here ) " every 5 minutes, try asking people around the area
or in FC. I've found it a much more higher chance to get into a dungeon if I just one person willing to join me. But I'd have to agree with a couple people here, DPS roles outnumber tanks and healers.
