Can those who got hacked fill me up with some answers. So as to help others strengthen their defenses.

1) Did you went to those gil seller websites to check it out?

2) Did you click on any links that send you to a SE website that reqires you to log in.

3) When was the last time you remember changing your password? How strong is it?

4) Do you have any anti virus installed? Are they up to date?

5) Are you using those free VPN services?

6) Did you log in your account elsewhere? Lan shop, someone else home, asked your guildmate to log in for you.

7) Did you bring your PC / laptop for repairs?

3) When was the last time you remember changing your password? How strong is it? - I havent changed it since launch as I've never been hacked before. It's a strong password, never been used by me for any other accounts.

Sounds so similar to the mass account hacks back in FFXI. Something SE never acknowledge.

I'm assuming people info is being hit via hacked accounts from other games with same name/pw. Also from exploited web elements, that's just my assumption based on the information I know about infections.

I wonder if people are getting their email addresses hacked, too.
For example an hacker could retrieve their email address if it's used on another forum/site/"w/e", hack it and use the password retrieval system of SE to get a new password.
Whoever is using gmail could enable the 2 steps verification using the smartphone token, similar to the SE one.

but i went to UltimatePay and PlaySpan the night before my account was compromised.
and yes, my UltimatePay and PlaySpan accounts shared the same email n pw as my FFXIV account.

Yes, UltimatePay/PlaySpan via the account page.

Don't remember when, but it's moderately strong to crack.

Yes AVG and it's up to date. I have NoScript on FireFox for browsing web contents too.

This is a common reason people get accounts stolen.

Maybe because it never happened? Speculation didn't make it a fact.
