Dem copy and paste skillsLet me define "Linear" for you since you lack the grasp of the English language.

"linear elasticity"
2.
progressing from one stage to another in a single series of steps; sequential.
"a linear narrative"
You have VERY little choice in skills, and even then, most of them do not chain off eachother so there is almost no point in using subjobs. If you are a level 40 paladin, you either have the same Maurader or Conjurer skills on your hot bar, or you don't. ALL CHARACTERS ARE COOKIE CUTTER. The only difference is gear.
I can choose to take Hawk's Eye as BLM, but i don't, because there are better abilities. Choice doesn't matter when things are unbalanced. I've never played an MMO that hasn't had a best set up for a class. It's simply not possible. You couldn't be more wrong, literally, every word of that statement is wrong.
Ever play Rift? You have about 100 skills at max level, and you can mix and match them to create your own personalized character. The only thing linear about it is you follow the main quest line, but even then, it's different depending on what class you are.
In fact, most MMO's are not linear, you have a choice, your character is can be something different than everyone elses...
In FF14, every single person has the same exact skills. You can not customize your character except cosmetically. ASS
this game is just a joke. A bad bad joke
You know that archer have a lv 4 skill that + 20% damage right? or may be buff to decrease enmity so you can unlease your full dps without worry about agro.
So grow up and explode the game.
Not gonna argue with you, pal. With logic like that, how could I, oh infallible one? Here's an idea, though. You could always, you know, go play rift while you wait for GTA5 or the next CoD if those are the end all MMO's for you and leave this "bad joke" of a game to us 300k+ idiots who seem to somehow enjoy it... Truth! You couldn't be more wrong, literally, every word of that statement is wrong.

In fairness, when you switch to a JOB it limits what cross-class skills you're able to pick and how many you can take at one time. As a Dragoon you can only take skills from Marauder and Pugilist, regardless of what other abilities you could have used as a Lancer.
But like I said in one of his other threads, that hardly matters because this is what you call class balance. The driving point of the game, just like FFXI, is group play where other classes will make up for your own shortcomings.
Stopped reading after "as a max lvl DRG"
Yea, Rift does have optimized builds, but there are A TON OF THEM. And at least you get the choice to use them or not. I would gladly pick the unique builds over optimized just to change it up a bit, instead of being forced to use the same exact build as everyone else.Do you honestly think Rift doesn't have optimized builds? Just because it has more options doesn't mean most of them are worth anything. In every MMO ever cookie cutter eventually takes over and narrows down the choices no matter how many options there are. At that point only the terribads who don't know any better use "unique" builds.
Also, linearity in games refers to content. In a linear game you have to follow a certain path while in a non-linear game you have much freedom in choosing in which order you tackle content.
This is the definition of cookie cutter.
if they are all so great then leave go play them. cant wait til after this month is over so people like you wont renew and go away. really go play rift, wow, swtor, or what ever game you want." Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye"Yea, Rift does have optimized builds, but there are A TON OF THEM. And at least you get the choice to use them or not. Lol, seriously, these dudes xD
Also, RIFT uses classes... you can set you to the class instead of the job, and use skills from all other classes...
If you feel you dont have enough skills, do this and you will get a wider variety of skills...
Also no game is exactly the same as all others, like RIFT has Skill trees (or so i though), FFXI has subjobs, Diablo III has subskills, etc etc etc.
All are different. So if you dont like a game, you stop playing it. Or at least i though that was what normal people do... If they dont like something, they move on.
Also, it will take time for SE to add more stuffs or change the current, because they only just got past server issues... The game just released afew weeks ago.
FFXIV 1.0 to 1.23 changed so much that you dont even imagine.
The saddest part of this thread is that the OP actually believes that he will have more fun if it the game presented him with the illusion of choice, as if it's the one thing that is ruining everything good for him. It's like a person with an anxiety disorder who believes that it's other people who cause him anxiety and not his own illogical thought processes. Some cognitive therapy would do both of you guys some good.
