Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System

Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System

Our first loves always leave an incredible impact on us...
I think FFXI back in the old days still takes the win for me.
Restricting to console games only:
Final Fantasy.
Because it was fun making up your own party and the combat system required a decent bit of thought.
The non-mp based magic system meant you had to be conservative of powerful spells.
The fact that characters wouldn't automatically switch to attack a new enemy after their target died meant you had to predict what damage would be dealt to enemies.
Also, it focused on the main quest instead of branching into millions of side quests; though it was a little thin on plot.
I'll admit though that I've only played completely through Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
I tried a few times with Final Fantasy 8, but kept running into memory card corruption issues, and got tired of repeating content.
When I picked up Final Fantasy 7, I didn't have any working memory cards and they were scarce, so I never got far in that. Picked it up for the PC recently though, so one of these days, I'll have to give it a play through.
FF4, followed closely by FF6 and FF Tactics.
FF7 was decent, but spectacularly overrated. FF8 was a letdown for me, although not a bad game.
FF9 was truly the last "classic", and the series just hasnt quite been the same since. (although i did enjoy X and XII)
FF4 was my first RPG though, so i'm sure that plays its part in my choice. I think i've completed FF4 from start to finish, in its various incarnations, at least a dozen times through the years

It is interesting to see them considering Terra's music for the magitek mounts.
VIII. Probably because it was the first one I played.
Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
FF8, because the ending is the best ending for anything I have ever seen.

Final Fantasy VII followed by Final Fantasy Tactics.
It was the first true next gen of the series --I had NEVER seen a Final Fantasy commercial on TV, and I'd see them for FFVII, and I would get SO HAPPY. I remember my dad didn't buy me a memory card for like 3 weeks. Had to keep starting as an ex-soldier working with AVALANCHE, some times I'd make it through the reactor and make it to the scorpion, sometimes I didn't.
When I finally got the memory card, everything changed. I was able to properly engage into the characters and story -- the music, the next gen graphics. Cloud was really the epitome of cool, back then. His style/ hair, his Buster sword on his Motorcycle, everything was just so cool.
