I quit FFXI 2 years ago for 2 interconnected reasons:

1) I didn't play much and when I did I mostly grinded jobs to 70 because...

2) I couldn't beat Maat and so no endgame for me.

I have always missed Vana'Diel and this new pkg is tempting but I already have about 5-6 "FFXI Complete Collections" from over the years. as well as multiple expansions(...PC, PS2, Xbox) that I live like a hoarder buried in empty Final Fantasy boxes, so I should probably pass.

Come to think of it, it's probably a good thing that Eorzea is so boring cuz I sometimes "...forget about school, work, family and sleep..."

XI is flat out bonkers compared to what it was when I left "Well forced to leave due to a RMT compromising my account!" when I came back to the game there was a new level cap and things just were not the same and not the same game I poured seven years of my life into.

You would be hard pressed to tell a XI veteran like myself that XI is appealing to the hardcore crowd when leveling in itself is a flat out joke now.

Sigh... Sadly I agree with OP. While I REALLY want XIV to be a game that just blows my shit away, it in it's current state is horrible, when I'm logged in to XIV I find myself getting bored faster and faster.

In XI I can login and have FUN. I go fight gods, NMs, do events, kill the sandworm BC.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a SQUARE fan, and I have high hopes for XIV still... but XI in it's current state is at least a playable game with some entertainment value where in contrast I would relate playing XIV to being tied up and beaten.

It's just that, I expected it to be so much better than what XI was AT LAUNCH, I was expecting to install XIV, start exploring Eorzea and have my mind blown again and again by how great it was. The story, the lore, the music, the graphics, the gameplay, the community.

Instead I feel like XIV is like a nazi concentration camp and they're trying to promise us it'll get better and I really hope it does but all they've shown me thus far is trivial things.

Please SQUARE, if you read this, I love your games. They have provided me with hundreds of hours of entertainment, thousands if you include XI, please fix this. I will wait patiently. Maybe I'm a stupid fan, but I believe you can fix this. You have the power to turn this around. Inside XIV there is the potential for a great mammoth of an MMORPG.

Make it happen.

In the mean time I'm going to continue playing it's predecessor occasionally, as I have mentioned, I still find it very much fun in comparison.

I want to thank everyone who continues to drudge through this all playing as they get this fixed. Keep at it, hold in there. There will be brighter days in the future!
