The fact that they are explicitly indicated as "quest hubs" should tell anyone with a functioning brain that they quite evidently factored in an immediate use for them.
Just lol.Far be it from me to complain, but...

Quest hubs will be there to expand quests system/range obviously. Yoshi-P explained it in the last letter as well:
..i think this is an unmotivated fear dude. :PIn this way, we’re going to gradually increase the number of public areas with quest hubs.
Quest hubs - A place outside of the main towns that have quests for players to obtain.
How is this hard to comprehend or ***/moan about? Geez... Only on an FFMMO forum...
The only thing you guys should be concerned with is whether or not they are going to take 1 type of Encampment for each region and just copy/paste them across the map - much like they've done with Aethryte camps and various environmental resources.

I'm hoping they call them "quest hubs" but in reality they're "towns like selbina with a bunch of quests for maps, and added bonuses to your char like subjobs". Of course we won't be getting subjobs, and apparently not maps either because giving everyone every map at level1 was a GREAT IDEA and it'd be waaay too hardcore if you had to quest/spend 3k gil on a map? ~_~
Did he really say this? That's completely retarded if he did. How is a unique innovative MMO feature not have a function? How is a more player controlled economy/game not have a function? It's an awesome cool unique idea, it has tons of functions. Quests hubs and instanced dungeons are boring, bland, copy/paste content. One of the reasons Yoshi discarded the idea of Player Companies and Player-owned Ships was because he saw no "function" for these features. ?

Honestly... What the fuck are you going to do if you build a boat or a cake if theres absolutely not way to use it?
Please think before you post Shiyo, I know its hard for you, but try it out.
You think before you post, you're constantly rude and want this game to turn into every other MMO on the market. Tanaka said you would take the boats to experience new content. So basically you'd make a boat, and ride it to another island or something and there would be new challenges for you and your friends/LS there. You'd also make a headquarters for your LS, and there'd be things you could do in it. They could have expanded on this idea and made us able to build even more things, creating OUR OWN CONTENT or creating ways to GET TO NEW CONTENT. You honestly expect to build a boat, and it just to sit there and have no use? Wow.
Consider yourself added to my ignore list, insulting me when the info is OBVIOUSLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES.Goal-Oriented Content & Comprehensive Tutorials
Together with the aforementioned improvements to gameplay, the availability of "goal-oriented" content and items, and the need for comprehensive and clear tutorials are issues that will be immediately addressed.
Establishment of In-Game Communities
The first version update of 2011 will introduce what are known as "companies," a special type of linkshell with more group-oriented progression and goals.
Once estbalished, companies will be able to work towards acquiring their own communal assets, such as buildings that can serve as headquarters, or ships that can be used to access multiplayer content. The system will provide concrete benefits to players who align themselves with a company, as well as motivate already established companies to seek out new recruits. In essence, the focus will be on providing new, innovative content for all players to enjoy. The FINAL FANTASY XIV Lodestone will also offer a number of online services covering both companies and linkshells.

He didn't and he knows it, he was just trying to make a point by twisting what yoshida actually said. He said he wont implement features unless he has a function for them -- not throw in features for no reason. Player ran companies would have no use currently thus why NPC companies are first so they can THEN get player ran companies built up.Did he really say this? That's completely retarded if he did. I see, that's good then ^-^He didn't and he knows it, he was just trying to make a point by twisting what yoshida actually said. This, pretty much. I've already mentioned what they would have to do to use it as a leveling model in the Tanaka vs Yoshida thread. We really need to wait and see how all that comes together as we get closer to patch. Hopefully we'll get a letter from the producer detailing more on that as we get closer to patch day.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Exactly this.He didn't and he knows it, he was just trying to make a point by twisting what yoshida actually said.
