Gear level, the final nail in the games coffin.

Terrible, terrible, terrible idea.

Gear locked content is a terrible idea under a lot of sides.
This game is new and has already an insane elitism on it. SE, don't worsen things.
This is one of the things that makes me think about unsubscribing. It creates a really unhealthy and unfriendly community.

And this comes from a player who loves to equip his character to the max, in every MMO.

I agree that finding undergeared people in a Garuda fight may be annoying, but if I use the duty finder I accept that I may find such groups. In that case, I can choose to leave, a 15 minutes debuff is not such a big deal.
If I'm not ok with that, I'll simply put up my group and not use the duty finder.

Meanwhile I find it more acceptable to be paired up via the duty finder with people who have a chance or actually completing the content rather than being paired up with people using level 28 jewelry still.

I'm sorry but if wanting a someone to spend some time at 50 to gear up, BEFORE they sign up for HM primals (aside from ifrit) makes me some sort of elitist all of a sudden then you got problems.

Many of us work full time jobs, have families, and social lives. If we can spend a few hours a week and farm level 50 gear before jumping into HM titan and Garuda, SO CAN YOU.

Tired of bads with level 30 GC weapons going into level 50 dungeons, the only people sad about this are those people, ilvl requirement will save this game from its own toxic community

Really lol so you want to join a lvl 50 group with someone in lvl 30 grey itmes, have you played any other games all games have gear check bosses. I like this idea and it has nothing to do with elitism it is to make sure your chara is able to take the dmg and put out the nessacry dmg to make it through that dungeon. and this only hurts the ppl that do not take the time to upgrade and manage their chara. but ofc no one sees that and rather complain about dumb things that would not be a problem if you gear up properly

replace your gear with level 49-50 stuff and then queue for AK. if you don't have 49-50 gear at the very least then run wanderer's, it is loads easier. progress through the dungeons like you were supposed to and get the correct gear for your level and there will be no issue. if i were a tank and i saw someone in my group was wearing level 25 whites i would leave too, i've done it in other games countless times. some people don't want to put up with others wasting their valuable time.

I dont understand, they are making it so you have to have a certain gear level to enter the dungeon. This will stop people in only AF thinking they can beat Garuda and up. AF is not hard to get, all you have to do is easy quests. On that note, the ilvl 50 AF gear is not meant to carry you through the rest of the game, its to get you into the lvl 50 game from the start. There is a reason its called progression, you slowly make progress (in both skill and gear) to do the fights. I am not elitest, but why should I suffer because people cannot properly gauge gear to fight level.

BUT JACORVIN, SKILL>GEAR!

Oh of course, skill over gear, but lets face it people think they are far more skilled than they actually are.

Gear score is there to limit what you can do, Im not going to let you fly a plane just because you say "skill over license" and I dont want you costing me money because you think you are better than you are and dont need the gear.

The only place this will really come into play is progressing to/beyond garuda, and you dont need full darklight for garuda either, but by time titan comes that is a pure gearcheck onits own.
The class quest gear is sufficient for everything below that, including AK


(That being said I am still bitter about carrying a TERRIBLE PLD tank through garuda the other knight, he couldnt even agro either of the adds, AND he got garuda's sword drop over me, his gear was full class quest gear and lvl 28 dungeon jewelry, while I worked to keep most of my gear at least iLvL55)

I find it funny that people think this is an elitist thing. How about common courtesy to people who have progressed through the content in the order it was intended? By skipping the in between dungeons, and undergearing your character, you're wasting other player's time who have geared themselves up by either doing Wanderer's Palace and Arum Vale, leveling their GC rank high enough to get Lv50 weapons/equipment, or bought/had someone make them militia equipment. This progression is by design . Though, it is indeed possible to win AK with AF and a Lv43-45 weapon, doing so is a damn headache to other people properly equipped to take on the dungeon and carry you through it. This is not another player's job to do so and it perpetuates the disdain towards the Duty Finder even further. Sure, using the Duty Finder isn't exactly where you expect to find the best quality player, but not having a gear check for some dungeons graduates it to a point of, "Why bother?" completely.

I happen to be willing to use the duty finder during my FC event downtime to run an AK and do not at all mind being paired with players just making the gear check. It still says they've tried to gear their character. It may take 5-7minutes extra for the missing DPS. It really doesn't matter. All that matters is if it is beatable by your abilities, since already establishing that it made a gear check, and not because you are a lazy cancer player who wants to be included in the initiation dungeon to endgame early with no effort whatsoever to the latter dungeons. They are useful. They teach you different dungeon mechanics and give you gear to progress to the next dungeon. Be smart, enjoy the journey, and respect other people's time.
