Yes and no. Sure Flash benefits a MRD/WAR... but Overwhelm can't be used by GLD/PLD. Likewise, Protect/early Revive are good for ACN/SCH, but if I remember right, CNJ only gets Virus and Physik (identical to Cure.. so why?).I prefer to be a scholar, however I leveled WHM in 1.0, so that is my backup. I think it would benefit every healer to level both classes because you never know when youre are going to need either one. Pretty much goes with the other roles too, the job/class system in this game rewards people who do this.
I tried both, but liked SCH a lot more than WHM.
I tried both I prefer Scholar. I played a Disc Priest in WoW so i'm biased towards Damage-Mitigating heals, personal bubbles,10% damage buffer bubbles, and ofc Faeries <333333
50 whm here, will soon be starting on a SCH

I'm a scholar myself. I find the scholars the more interesting healer since alot of their heals center less around the amount healed and more around the amount of damage that will be preveneted through adloquims/succor's barrier. My few complaints is the level 40 esuna we get, which is kind of silly since all it is is an esuna. And not being able to control my faieries properly due to the sic and obey commands working on attacking pets, and fairies don't exactly attack.
How I ended up solving my dilemma in the mean time of the fairies is being alot closer to the combat then I should be. While I should be in the back line, if I'm in the middle area I'm able to reach, hopefully, all my party members with the fey spells/whispering dawn when eos/selena decides to pop the spells. It isn't the perfect fix, but it's one I've found myself doing and it working out for me in the run. It may backfire on me in the long run, but for now what I'll do is heal from the middle and see how that goes for me.

50 WHM, 30 SCH.
I've been mixed on doing anything with SCH. Do I want to run healer again for 20 more levels when I enjoy being WHM? SCH feels like a gimped job to me, too. An 8-man party with one WHM and one SCH works great, but I've struggled in strange ways in 4-man parties where the healer is a SCH (I'm usually a dd/dps in that case).
I understand a need for variety (two types of healers)... but I also know that I'd be ticked if SCH got straight up better stuff than WHM. And that isn't fair, because the two should arguably be on par, but I want WHM to be the better, stronger job.
Maybe I'm just crazy and too obsessed with white mages, but it all feels redundant at the same time. I've seen posts by and played with people who love SCH and have great things to say about it, but I feel I might just level ACN as SMN to 50 and let SCH kite on the shared class benefit.

I play a Holy Priest... I out heal every Disc Priest I come across... Only druids have gaven me a hard time to keep first place for healing. (Since they can use their HoTs like mad) From what I have seen from my 1.0 WHM and the SCH I leveled, I'm leaning towards WHM for endgame especially since medica 2 and regen stack, even if used by another WHM for 4 regens on 1 target. In truth I hope that gets nerfed so I won't mind switching to my SCH... especially if I can manage to get that class geared.
I am a Scholar!! >![]()

From what I have seen on my server... you will more likely do endgame as a WHM than a SCH.. as stated in the above post medica 2 and regen stack... and it even stacks if 2 WHMs both use it on one player. I DO hope to see it nerfed or atleast allow upto 2 shields on 1 target... For fairness. Also if one player can have 2 shields SCH might be used alot more since they don't seem to crit too often... or maybe their early 50 gear is just absolute garbage.
A Scholar here representing.I was a Scholar in Final Fantasy XI as well, whilst the job is very different in XIV, I love them both. Not hit 50 yet, but found it has worked really well as a healer and fun to play. I'm always healer in MMOs, I was a Seer Sage in SW:TOR and a Holy Paladin in WoW, people were always curious as to why I didn't tank on my Paladin.
However, I must say I miss Helix & weather spells & strategems, yes, I know we have our own DoTs at least and it is a different game, so I ain't complaining, and to be fair the DoTs we get are pretty awesome and allow for me to adopt a similar playstyle I had on Scholar on FFXI, whilst being unique enough to feel like I'm not playing the exact same job. I tend to jump between healing & DPS in fight depending on the situation in battle, how we manage out MP allows me to get away with it.
