u can't go higher on General Drawing Quality then 8 and still expect your system to run well.
i'm using 2 gtx460, i have all settings maxed out including AO & DoF, i lose about 5-15 FPS outside of towns, so 45-55, but that's fine.

i think someone has explained it somewhere before, but general drawing quality is like a multiplier of your resolution.
if you play on 1920x1080 with DGQ at 8 the quality is according to your game's res, at 9 it's x1,5 and at 10 2,0.
so 10 is like playing the game at double of your resolution.
in the beta it was called window buffer size, turn of your AA, and check the difference from 8 and 10, i think that's the best way to see the difference.

    Ninja Edit:

    here 2 examples.

    1st, GDQ 10, DoF, AAx0

    2nd, GDQ 8, DoF, AAx0

4GB RAM is more than enough, unless your PC is cluttered to crap or you want to run stuff like video editors, eclipse IDE, etc.

I was wondering what happened to Window Buffer, if thats what it is then I shall knock it back down to 8 and that should help a lot, thanks for that.

Quoting myself from my Previous Post
the 6970 will run FFXIV better even though the 6990 is two 6970 GPU's. The reason is because FFXIV will only use 1 GPU from the 6990, causing it to be overworked on that single GPU.
I agree though Oni, that you should have better FPS than you are stating, unless you have a gimped card. Try using AMD Overdrive to set your Graphical Settings for AA etc. Click the box so it doesn't use aplication settings. If you have an older MOBO, check to see if you have the latest BIOS for it. I believe the most current AMD drivers for the HD cards is 11.4 too. What is your score running the Benchmark? It'd be nice to know if your CPU or Data Corruption is bottlenecking the 6990/6970

    My Rig: Phenom x4 965 O.C. @ 3.8, Formula IV Mobo, Radeon 5770 Stock, Corsair Dominator CL9 1333Mhz 4 Gig Ram

Settings: 1080p Resolution on 22.5" Monitor (Windowed)
General Drawing Highest (10), Background Standard(3). Shadows Standard.
    Texture Quality High
    Texture Filtering High
    No DOF, NO AO

All my other Graphical Settings are set through AMD Overdrive.
    Gaming Performance
    Standard 3D Settings (Custom)
    Mipmapping (Quality)

    Image Quality
    Anti-Aliasing - Morphological Filtering 8X Wide-Tent Samples 16X
    Anti-Aliasing Mode - Super-Sample AA
    Anisotropic Filtering 16X

With this I have smooth Gameplay 45-50 FPS

    EDIT:

I didn't want to wait till June so i went and purchased my 6990. A Sapphire 6990.... I put all the settings on MAX including AO and DOF..... the results?

11FPS at 1680X1050..... either my card is defective or this game is even more poorly designed then i thought....

I do have way lower FPS ~10fps in buletstorm also when using eyefinity... which seems to indicate something is wrong with the card but other games play fine so i dunno....
Its the game not your card

As posted in this post here are the reasons why
