MRD and GLD would likely benefit from a lancer's Keen Flurry, it grants a nice increase to parry rates and it is a lower level skill too.

honestly speaking, i do not see whats the big deal with mercy stroke >>; sure, its a 200 potency attack off GCD, but that is only ONE 200 potency attack in the entire fight considering it can only be done below 20% and there is a whopping 90 seconds CD on it. I would say blood bath, although not a DPS improving skill to be much more crucial as it allows your healers to relax a little on healing your melee dps, unless they are already overhealing everyone, then its a different story.
BLM is the easiest class in the game for cross class. If you have a decent tank, all you need is Raging strikes which is free since you need ARC to 15 to unlock BLM anyway. If you want to get a tiny bit more effective, you can get Quelling Strikes to lower your threat generation but its not needed with good tanks.. Lastly you can heal for like 300 with Physic and allow for a small amount of mitigation with Virus and blood for blood. All in all, Raging Strikes will be plenty.
That being said, I'm working on ACN and ARC now to unlock everything because I'm a completionist.

Also have to consider this, (this is purely my opinion based off my own observations):
Jobs themselves bring enough utility and abilities to do what they are designed to do. So in theory, you don't have to use cross-class abilities to do what your job needs to do. Mainly what the abilities serve is to provide gap closers to make you even more effective, but it's not necessary. You have all the tools you need. The extra abilities just fine tune your performance. Again they are not necessary, but they do improve performance. I want that to stick out.
If your any class without triangulate... your useless in my eyes. Do you even math?

This is why end game is never what its cracked up to be. I already work 7:30 to 4, 5 days a week as it is. I got to level 30 on my lancer and had to level up the marauder for dragoon. And after the first 7 or so levels, it became work. It wasnt fun, it was just work. And i had the helm of light to help level and what not. When i get done with my paycheck job an di come to play ff14, i want to play and enjoy it, not be forced to level up a class i have no interest in yet. If im hearing that people are clearing with out these supposed "nesscary skills" And its comming from the white mages as well? Im going to take thier word for it and just stay out of fire circles of doom, or rocks as iv heard some bosses do. (thank you SE for putting our character level and class next to the post)

I don't really worry about what other players may or may not be missing. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never been in a situation where the lack of an ability made everything fall part. Besides, I main MNK but don't have Blood for Blood. I don't really like LNC and I'm SLOWLY working towards it just because personally I would like it...eventually. I've never been called out on it though.

To be fair mercy "stroke" is just awful![]()
I am not leveling all classes to 50 on my character. Essentially my plan is to get my tank what he needs for abilities, probably level two crafting professions and then roll an alt. I do not have the patience to grind out 50 levels with no quests for all combat classes in this game... maybe the crafting but certainly not the combat heh.
More relevant to the topic... tanks need any and all useful CD's that the other tank class has. Also for a paladin, picking up stoneskin wouldn't hurt just in case you do not have a whm/cnj in your group.
Remember, you're unique... just like everyone else.
