Sorry Oni. Just don't cry wolf. Cause people remember who flames the most. Otherwise anything you are actually concerned about will be overlooked, or considered flaming. Plus, I still don't think you are actually looking into buying a video card. Why you ask? Becauses as someone who knows about the GTX590 you would have already looked into specs on Dual GPU cards and how they aren't optimized for FFXIV. Alot of games don't work well with Dual GPU cards for the added cost either, which would have lead you to investigate FFXIV's capebility. Then the Loaded Post Title (similar to Loaded Question) really set this off as someone would answer your question on wether it was worth it to buy a 6990. Since the answer is no, you could then post how you are disappointed.

I know the 590 is a dual core GPU because i do follow the hardware news, i am buying my new card and i couldn't care less what you think, i don't even see why you waste your time posting that you don't believe me... if you don't then go look elsewhere it is that simple.

I have read in another forum a while back that FFXIV didn't work well with crossfire and yes a dual core GPU will be seen in the PC as crossfire but what i wanted to know is how well from real life experience a 6990 will perform on this game. I was under the impression that a single core of the 6990 might be enough to do the job and didn't want to base my conclusions based on some old thread i seen months ago with a guy using dual 4870 or 5870 to test out the game with crossfire.

I believe you don't have a 6990 right? then you can't help me or answer my question and if you think im just here to flame then there is plenty of other threads for you to post in.

If nobody was able to max FFXIV's settings with good framerate then i am wondering what exactly was SE using when testing the game?

Likely the best available at the time.

Also it's pretty common for PC games not to be able to max out until one or two GPU gens later, the problem here is there are glaring signs that the engine is lacking even some of the most basic optimizations.

I guess FFXIV is the new Crysis... if your PC can run FFXIV it can run anything!

Can't wait to see FFXIV on a PS3!
I would like to see more information on this toppic in bold. I am interested to see what other MMO's there are that match FFXIV's graphics and can be maxed by a Radeon 5870 (Pretty good card anyways) With AA, Ambient Occlusion, Depth of Field, all maxed. :-)

You are way dumber than you seem if you were expecting to be the only person in the world who would get 60fps with settings maxed out, after being clearly warned that you wouldn't.
