There's nothing immediate you can do (you're still going to be screwed out of a dungeon run), but you can always report players like that for harassment through the in-game Support Desk. Report them enough times and SE is likely to give them a temporary suspension.

I've had a lot of join in progress moments where it was just someone AFK at the entrance. I wonder if it's someone like that.

Actually no they don't suspend people. I have reported one player for griefing (the same thing as the OP). This is what I get from the report.


The person basically did nothing but talk in chat for 20-30 minutes. They finally started to do something after our second DPS came in. We didn't want to leave because we thought it would be rude for the DPS because they have to wait 30+ minutes again. We never even finished it up because they kept fooling around, dying (purposely standing in the stuff) and blaming me for not healing them when they pulled more mobs and I was mainly healing the tank so we wouldn't wipe.

Don't mean to high jack your thread, but I've just had the same experience with "Beast Monk" from Ultros server in a FC named Merica. He had an argument with our tank after Demon Wall in AK and refused to help the rest of the dungeon. After about 5 failed wipes trying to 3 man the final boss, we final took it down without him. If these people continue to be trolls in dungeons, I for one see no reason why there shouldn't be witch hunts against these trolls. If this is against the forum rules, please feel free to delete my post, but this just gets on my nerves.

Where does it say they wont suspended players? All the response says is there's no specific rule governing how players are supposed to perform their role, but it also says they'll investigate if you report harassment. If SE's "investigation" uncovers wrongdoing they can and will pass out punishment as they see fit. In FFXI that meant temporary suspensions or even bans if the situation called for it. If one player is continuously being reported for trollish behavior it's a sure bet that SE will do something about it. However, that hinges entirely on people actually reporting the trolls enough for SE to notice.
