Um.. what do you expect? It is not real life it is a computer game.... Obviously you have to hit the same key to fight a monster, obviously you have to have a npc tell you where to go otherwize all the people incapable of logging onto a YG would have no idea what to do. Obviously there is a level cap because the game has only been out for 6 months and is still a work in progress....

I'm more or less with the other people here. If you've played FFXI and quit a few years ago but want a reunion with the "good ol' days" then go ahead and play FFXIV. It's basically free at the moment and you can just log on do some stuff and log off without the pressure to advance in any way.

For people who've never played an MMO or not a FF title I'd not recommend the game. The state of the game is "OK" but nowhere from being 100% enjoyable.

I totally freaked out yesterday when I had to run to Mor Dhana (sp?) D: I died here and there but it was a little bit exciting There's not much content yet but there's a lot to do actually. People who've stayed are levelling crafts and their desired jobs and once content comes out they're ready to go basically.

I'm not even playing much at the moment. Only 1-2 hours during the week and about 8hours on the weekend I spose. I'm SPing and Ding at a decent rate. It's ok for me. Even if they add new content for LV50 by next week (haha) I'm not going to rush anything. The dedidcation to the game will come but not anytime soon ;P

I expect an engaging battle system, not a snore fest, i do not need a scene just for somebody to tell me "Hey go to Y and bring me X" i do expect them implemented in things that meter, like mission quest etc etc. And as for the cap excuse, come on seriously ? Vanilla wow launched with 100 times more content than this game has TODAY, there is no excuse for lack of content at END GAME At lower levels sure i can understand, but at END GAME ? Nope!

There is no end game yet, this game has still many more phases it must go through before suitable end game material will emerge. Instead of complaining about it, try to be the best you can be right now so you wont need to work as hard when there is an expansion adding more content, raising level caps, quests, new jobs, etc. etc. If it is too difficult for you then you should probably not be here.

I personally love the crafting system. It's very diverse, if a bit overwhelming at times, especially compared to other games out there. I'll leave out my negative impressions and just say that despite whatever shortcomings the system has, crafting is a blast.

Also, you can level up your character with crafting alone. I find it awesome that you can be an awesome merchant/trader in this game and still be level capped with everyone else, and that you can actually reach the level cap by doing so.

The quests are very interesting. Not a lot of MMOs out there have quests that are just at, if not a single notch below single player RPG quality. I've only been doing the Gridania one so far, but I'm finding it very fun.

    Catgirls.

    Monocles.

    Macros. <- Seriously. Macros.

I love the Macro system. Obviously, some of this could be negated if they had an auto attack *cough*, but I like being able to script out my commands. When I played FFXI on my PS2, it was a godsend, and even though I'm playing on my computer, it's still very useful. In all honesty, it's not much different from how macros work in other games as well, so I have no idea why people complain (like in WoW, I could make a macro to cast pretty much everything I'd ever need with one button as a Warlock. Of course I had to press that same button more than once because of how they macro system worked, but you can bet your bum I was wishing it was the FFXI system. It's not like this game has PVP anyhow).

    The game will become epic.

It's not quite epic yet, but as time goes on and they get the kinks ironed out, and then the console release happens, we'll see an influx of new players to bolster the economy, more content will be out (and a lot of the content in FFXI was pretty awesome).

It's currently free to play (just buy the game). Seriously, if you're on the fence because you don't want a monthly subscription, just hold off on buying something else and buy FFXIV and play it for free. Watch the game change and get better, and then by the time they start asking for money again, you'll be willing to hand it to them. There is no monetary risk from playing the game, so there is no reason not to.

Sounds like you are not very good at playing this game. I never have to hit a single action over and over (not as a thm/mrd/lnc). I have around a dozen actions on my 27 marauder and I use every single one of them, the only one that is not always on cooldown is my siphon mp spell.

If you are not engaging yourself in the story, you should be playing WoW so you can just skip to the end of the quest text to see what you need to do next. The story and cut scenes in this game are 100x better than any other MMO I've played (other than FFXI I suppose).

But yes, the game lacks content which is something that will be fixed in the future.

Your arguments sound like the exact ones every person screamed about the first week of release.

I'm very confused on why a lot of people expect FFXIV to become like other mmos. I would much rather this game struggle right now and hopefully become a game that exceeds even the quality of FFXI. I do not care about how many zones there are in the game with how many quests. It all comes down to the same formula that WoW clones follow. I want a game that cares more about immersion and difficulty through group play, a good combat/class system, and exciting missions to do.
