They have a North American branch, FYI.
Can you pass long that the preforming maintenance during the NA peak play time is a little ridiculous... It would be appreciated... If you guys pushed it back like 3 more hours at least the PDT people could actually play after work for a little...Greetings,
In case you haven’t seen the news announcement posted on Lodestone, we will be holding a long maintenance on Wednesday, September 11th from 5:00 p.m. until September 12th at 3:00 a.m. This maintenance will address the below three things, which Yoshida mentioned in his post:
We apologize for any inconveniences this maintenance may cause, but appreciate your understanding as we do our best to enhance the servers to ensure comfortable playing conditions.
Do you REALLY want all the Japanese players to populate onto the NA servers during downtime if they scheduled them separately? are you really prepared for server crashes and constant login issues again?
It's not as simple as it sounds Ifervan...
Because if the two data-centers aren't synched correctly, that is, use the exact same configurations, then login issues akin to the error 90000 into an unresolvable 3102 due to your character being lost in limbo can happen. That's because despite the game-world servers being separate there is only one login server (Because that enables NA players to play in JP servers).
So yes, they need to enter maitenance mode at the same time.
The North American branch has nothing to do with the game FYI. So the Devs which are all in Japan will be doing it on their time, not your time. This will be how all maintenance will be handled, if you don't the door is right there and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
It would appear to be prime "work" time in Japan which makes sense to me. It's one night!
Why not put it this way. Say you're working at international corporation, would you stay at work until near midnight to do a job when you could just as easily do it in your daytime hours just so your international customers can access your product for that one day, whilst annoying the customers who could more easily come to your physical location to complain?
Thank you for doing your best, glad to see they are telling us stuff. Keep it up.
Me and the rest of Asian and oceanic players always got our maintenance on our prime time in WoW. We sucked it up cos we knew its an American based company. Square is a Japanese based company, maybe its time our NA friends learn to do the same ^_^
Speaking as someone who worked for seven years in the ISP business, routing isn't something SE can really control. You should be taking it up with your ISP. Take a traceroute, and submit it to your ISP's support desk. Will this address the horrible latency many of us are experiencing? My ping constantly says Send 0 Receive 5000, that shouldn't even be possible. Tons and tons of data suggests that people with my issue are being routed too many places to connect. Can I get a response? I seriously don't know what to do about this other than try and get legal help to get attention, I feel like I've been had.
