There should be alternatives for making money only crafting/gathering is no good, not everybody likes to craft just as not everybody likes to play support classes. i don't like being forced to do something i don't enjoy just to be able to run dungeons and raids.

This... If I wanted to sit and spam my Enter key trying not to fall asleep - I'd do it without FFXIV.

DoH and DoL are extremly boring for me, and if I have to "play" them in order to be able to play the actual game, then it's pretty much a deal breaker...

I don't think SquEnix will be able to convince a large enough playerbase that in order to play their Combat focused character they'll have to play nobby-nobody farmer.

Playing should at least be self sustainable by doing the things you want, i.e. playing only battle classes.

It is. You can go and level only MNK and farm mob drops. Then crafters will buy those drops from you with gil they've earned from their levequests.

How I see it - running the dungeon should provide us with a minimal income that lets us at the very least repair our gear, without forcing us to do such BORING tasks like farming or crafting.

If you wanted to get rich - sure, go and farm. But having to do it in order to just repair my gear? That is a bad idea IMO.
